- “Hi!”
- —Kirby, Super Smash Bros. Melee
Kirby, who has his own separate game series, is one of the Super Smash Bros. game's leading characters. Kirby has the ability to suck his rivals into his mouth and mimic their powers and special abilities. From Super Smash Bros. Kirby can copy Mario characters like Mario (gives him bouncy fireballs), Luigi (green, straight fireballs), Peach (gives him Toad), Yoshi (can lay eggs), Bowser (Fire breath), Donkey Kong (Giant Punch), and Dr. Mario (Megavitamins). Kirby comes in different colors including yellow (a possible nod to the color Shigeru Miyamoto wanted him to be), red, blue, green, white (most likely a reference to his Game Boy games, like Kirby's Dream Land which, due to the black and white screen of the Game Boy, depicted him white), and the signature pink. Kirby is voiced by Makiko Omoto.
Kirby made a cameo in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga in the Yoshi Theater poster. Mario also has made cameos in some of his games. One such cameo is Kirby Super Star, where Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, and Birdo were in the background of events such as Kirby Vs Dedede and the Megaton Punch competition. The Kirby series enemy Gordo also appeared in Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins, and the Star Rod, perhaps the most important artifact of the Kirby series, got an appearance as a major artifact in Paper Mario.
Finally, Kirby appeared alongside Mario in the obscure educational video Mario Kirby Masterpiece; however, this video was merely a compilation of their non-intertwining adventures. In Kirby's Mario Kirby Masterpiece segment, he helps a little lost dog find its mother, who was kidnapped by King Dedede.

Trophy Information from Super Smash Bros. Melee
Classic
A denizen of the far-off, peaceful planet Pop Star, Kirby became a citizen of Dream Land after defeating King Dedede. Even though he's only about eight inches tall, Kirby is an extremely skilled technician. He has the ability to absorb the powers of his enemies, and his elastic body makes him a versatile adventurer.
Adventure
Kirby's small size lets him dodge many attacks, but his light weight makes him fly far when struck. Using his ability to inflate, he can jump five times. His Swallow attack creates wild combos; not only can he copy foes' moves, but he'll also put on special hats and mimic their voices. His Hammer is unwieldy but powerful.
All-Star
Because of his light weight, Kirby is always in danger of being sent flying, but his ability to puff up and fly allows him to come back from amazing distances. His Final Cutter strikes on the way up and on the way down, and it sends out a beam of force upon landing. Kirby transforms into various objects and crashes down when he uses his Stone technique.
Trivia
- In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Kirby will occasionally transform into a Thwomp when using his downward-B attack.
- Wario's ability to suck up Coins in Wario World is extremely similar to Kirby's inhale ability.
- It's still unknown what Kirby will look like or what attacks he'll get if he sucks up one of the new characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
- Kirby was in Nintendo Monopoly, where he replaced Virginia Avenue, and costed $160.
