In this mode, the player controls [[Yoshi]], traversing a small map and visiting buildings where different game modes relating to baking cookies can be played. The map is traversed in a similar manner to how it works in ''[[Super Mario World]]'', as Yoshi walks from dot to dot on the road. A blue tile with a white star constantly teleports between the dots, and if Yoshi stands on it, he is teleported to the bottom right corner of the map. There is also a pair of tunnels set on the bottom left and top right of the map that may serve as a shortcut.

In Zairyō no Yakata (ざいりょうのやかた ''zairyō no yakata'', "ingredient mansion"), the player must look through the cabinets of a kitchen trying to find all the required ingredients for a certain type of cookie amidst other ingredients, items and enemies. Before starting, the player must select the cookie type and a time setting from three options: "SET TIME 1" for a 3:00 limit, "SET TIME 2" for a 5:00 limit, or "TIME OFF" for no timer.

While the kitchen's layout is always the same, the ingredients are in random spots. If the player finds all ingredients required within the time limit, a congratulating message is displayed and the player returns to the map. There are ten available slots for ingredients (labeled 1 through 8 plus A and B). Collecting unnecessary ingredients does not automatically make the player lose, but running out of available slots without all desired ingredients does cause a [[Game Over]].

Besides ingredients, the player may find two kinds of enemy creatures that will hinder the game's progress and two kinds of items to defeat them. These items are placed in the last slots, labeled A and B. When one of these creatures is found, it moves around the kitchen for the duration of one minute, and Yoshi is prevented from gathering ingredients until he finds the required item to defeat it, automatically driving it away. Failure to do so until the 1-minute time limit expires causes the creature to trigger an adverse effect on the game.

===Dōgu no Yakata===

In Dōgu no Yakata (どうぐのやかた ''dōgu no yakata'', "utensil mansion"), the player has a similar objective as in Zairyō no Yakata, looking through the cabinets of a kitchen, but for the utensils needed for a certain type of cookie instead. As with that game, the player must select the cookie type and a time setting from three options: "SET TIME 1" for a 3:00 limit, "SET TIME 2" for a 5:00 limit, or "TIME OFF" for no timer.

In this game, there are twelve utensil slots numbered from 1 to 12, plus the A and B slots.
