A '''Yoshi Star''' is an item that appears in ''[[Yoshi's New Island]]''. When a [[Yoshi (species)|Yoshi]] collects it, he turns into [[Super Yoshi (form)|Super Yoshi]] and is able to walk on walls for a short time and speed up, similar to the [[Super Star#Yoshi series|Super Star]] from the previous games. The red Yoshi Stars usually appears after the player completes a segment full of yellow Yoshi Stars, and they give Yoshi the power to blast through enemies and walls. The effects wear off after a short while, though Yoshi can maintain them by collecting more Yoshi Stars.
