World Flower, or Flower World, is the second special world and the eighth world appearing in New Super Mario Bros. 2. As in World Mushroom, this world has a generic design, having a background color of green. This is an optional world to completing the first goal of the game (that is, beating Bowser) and serves as an alternative world to World 4. This world can be accessed by completing either 3 or mushroom. There are a total of nine levels and three Toad Houses in this world. This world has a total of eleven exits. There are three normal levels, a Ghost House and a Castle on the main path and an additional two levels along with a Warp Cannon which can be found by secret exits in the other levels. The three Toad Houses includes two that are red and one which is green. Porcupuffers are the only enemies introduced in the world. The boss of World Flower is Lemmy Koopa, who is fought at the castle at the end, and defeating him will take the player to World 5. The Warp Cannon in this world takes the player immediately to World 6, thus skipping World 5 as well. Note that a player can skip almost all normal worlds in the game (except World 1 and World 6) by taking the Warp Cannon of every entered world until the battle with Bowser (1, mushroom and flower).

To access this level, the timer must end with the two digits '88' (that is, 'x88', where 'x' can be any number) when the player reaches the flagpole of any World Flower level. Once the level is completed, it can be accessed again by satisfying the above condition once more.

This level starts with Mario shooting out of a Cannon Pipe and collecting Coins while being shot into the sky. This level has coins circling around in groups of seven. There is also a Red Ring in this level, which gives the player a Gold Flower if all of the Red Coins are collected. During Mario's red coin collecting, a 100 Gold Coin will appear. This will give the player 100 coins, resulting in an extra life. The level ends when the player falls back down to the World Map.

|description2=This level takes place in the mountains during sunset, and the floor is mainly made up of pipes, mainly infested with Piranha Plants. Read more...
This level takes place in the mountains during sunset, and the floor is mainly made up of pipes, mainly infested with Piranha Plants. Mario begins partially enclosed in a set of Snake Blocks on a blue pipe. Above is a set of three ? Blocks, of which one contains a Super Leaf. Mario will then have to jump from Snake Block to Snake Block to leap over an abyss. More Snake Blocks can be found next, also leaping over an abyss, then a Goomba can be found. An area with fast Snake Blocks follow, where Mario have to walk on the Snake Blocks quickly to the other side. The checkpoint can then be found, followed by ? Blocks which one of them has a Super Leaf. Mario will then come across an area with many Snake Blocks where he needs to make his way upwards to the other side. Two ? Blocks can be found above a single Koopa Troopa. The one on the right will begin flying when hit and hitting it again releases a 1-Up Mushroom. Mario then has to cross several gaps in between mini pipes with Snake Blocks above them. After that several Goombas can be found on more Snake Blocks, followed by the flagpole.

*Star Coin 1: The first Star Coin can be found early in the level between two sets of Snake Blocks guarded by a Paratroopa. Mario will have to drop down to the lower half of the mini pipe on the left and slowly use the Snake Blocks to reach the Star Coin.
|image4=
*Star Coin 2: The Star Coin is just before the checkpoint beside a mini pipe. Mario needs to wall jump off the nearby Snake Blocks when it gets close enough to reach the Star Coin.
|description4=In this level, Mario needs to navigate through a rather difficult course of parachuting Para-bombs and rotating and stationary electric Amps, while preventing falling down the large abyss. Read more...
*Star Coin 3: At the top of the area where Mario needs to make his way upwards after the checkpoint, there are two blue pipes on the left and a yellow one on the right. Mario should carefully slide down the side of one of these pipes to find the Star Coin and wall kick back up afterwards.

Secret Exit
|description5=A Ghost House with Peepas and a Boohemoth. Read more...
When Mario reaches the two ? Blocks before the area with the Snake Blocks above the mini pipes, Mario needs to hit the right ? Block to make it fly, then stand on top of the block until it flies upwards, taking Mario to a hidden area in the sky. This is best achieved by performing a ground pound on top of the block while it is not flying. Mario then has to cross several sets of Snake Blocks, which ends with the flagpole.

At the Boss Room, Mario must face Lemmy Koopa on the conveyor belt while he is on a magical ball. This fight is similar to his castle fight in World 3-Castle from New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The player must hop on the balls he throws with his wand and stomp on him. There is a button on the ceiling which changes the direction of the conveyor belt. He is defeated after being stomped 3 times.
