'''{{world|8|tank3}}''' is the first of two [[tank]] levels in [[Dark Land]], being followed by [[World 8-Super Tank]], and is the first level of Dark Land overall, in ''[[Super Mario Bros. 3]]''. It is the only level accessible after clearing [[Pipe Land]] and its own completion unlocks {{world-link|8|navy|World 8-Battleships}}. It is entered automatically upon touching the icon on the map.

==Layout==

This is a horizontally autoscrolling level, though it is only the tanks that move; the player will not move with the screen if they are standing on the ground. The player starts at the forefront of a battalion of moving tanks. The tanks are lined with [[cannon]]s that fire either [[cannonball]]s or [[Bob-omb]]s, one has a [[Burner|Rocket Engine]] on the front, and others have [[Rocky Wrench]]es. There is also a [[giant cannon]] that fires [[giant cannonball]]s before the [[Warp Pipe]] at the end of the level, which leads to a chamber with a lone [[Boomerang Bro]]ther that will end the level upon being defeated.

In the original game, the airship theme continues playing during the Boomerang Brother fight, while in remakes, the [[Hammer Bro]]ther battle theme plays instead. Additionally, the original ''[[Super Mario Bros. 3]]'' and the ''[[Super Mario All-Stars]]'' remake have thirteen tanks, whereas ''[[Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3]]'' has ten.
