'''Wiggler''',<ref>{{cite|author=Hodgson, David S J, Bryan Stratton, and Stephen Stratton|date=September 3, 2002|title=''Super Mario Sunshine'' Prima's Official Strategy Guide|publisher=Prima Games|language=en|isbn=0-7615-3961-1|page=20}}</ref> also known as '''Boss Hana''',<ref>{{cite|author=Bogenn, Tim and Doug Walsh|date=January 1, 2002|title= ''Super Mario Sunshine'' BradyGames Official Strategy Guide|publisher=BradyGames|language=en|isbn=0-7440-0180-3|page=64}}</ref> is a [[List of characters|character]] in ''[[Super Mario Sunshine]]''. It is a giant green [[Wiggler]] who appears as the boss of [[Gelato Beach]]. Wiggler first appears in the episode [[Mirror Madness! Tilt, Slam, Bam!]], where it sleeps on top of the glass case housing the [[Sand Bird]] egg, blocking sunlight and delaying its hatching. [[Mario]] has to correctly angle three mirrors after removing the [[Plungelo]]s found on the mirrors so that the resulting sunlight causes Wiggler to fall off the case, revealing a [[Shine Sprite]]. Wiggler's second appearance and actual battle take place in [[Wiggler Ahoy! Full Steam Ahead!]], where Mario has to fight an enraged Wiggler. It moves very quickly and can damage Mario by running into him. Wiggler also blows steam from its nose and makes sounds like a {{wp|steam locomotive}}. Mario can stun it by spraying [[Dune Bud]]s with [[water]] when Wiggler approaches them, flipping it onto its back, revealing a weak point on any one of its segments, which needs to be [[Ground Pound|ground-pound]]ed to deal damage to Wiggler. When it is damaged, its mobility speeds up, but Wiggler does not change color. Likewise, the boss music speeds up once per hit, making Wiggler the only boss in the game with this distinction. After Wiggler has been hit three times, it turns into sand, revealing another Shine Sprite.

The [[Wiggler Wagon]]s in ''[[Mario Kart: Double Dash!!]]'' found on [[Mushroom Bridge]] and [[Mushroom City]] bear resemblance to this Wiggler.
'''Wiggler''' is a giant [[Wiggler]] who appears in ''[[Super Mario Sunshine]]'' as the boss of [[Gelato Beach]]. It is the cause of the [[Sand Bird]]'s delayed hatching.

==History==
===''Super Mario Sunshine''===
[[Image:BossWigglerAsleep.png|thumb|left|'''Wiggler''' asleep on top of the [[Shine Tower]].]]
In ''[[Super Mario Sunshine]]'', it covers the solar heating device that feeds warmth to the Sand Bird's egg. When Mario knocks the sleeping Wiggler off the device, thus restoring the sun's warmth to the egg, it awakes with a nasty temper and goes on a rampage across the beach. In order to defeat Wiggler, Mario has to use the sand dune creating abilities of the beach's [[Dune Bud]]s in order to form obstacles for Wiggler to trip over and fall onto it's back, leaving the weak spots on it's belly exposed. Once Mario defeats it, it dissolves into sand.

===''Mario Kart: Double Dash!!''===
In ''[[Mario Kart: Double Dash!!]]'', Wiggler didn't make a physical appearance, but numerous [[Wiggler Bus]]es that appear in the game bear a similar appearance to him (such as his red nose, green skin, orange and yellow spots, and the flower on his head). The Wiggler Buses act as obstacles in [[Mushroom City]] and [[Mushroom Bridge]].

==Character Description==
===Physical Appearance===
Unlike most Wigglers, the Wiggler appearing in ''Super Mario Sunshine'' has a different color scheme, having yellow eyes instead of black, green skin instead of yellow, a red nose instead of a brown one and wearing blue shoes instead of violet ones. It is also very large, possessing more than eight body segments, making him even larger than a [[Mega Wiggler]] and the second largest Wiggler in the [[Mario (series)|''Mario'' series]], surpassed only by the massive Wiggler appearing in [[World 7 (New Super Mario Bros.)|World 7-3]] of ''[[New Super Mario Bros.]]''. Wiggler also has the distinction of being one of the few Wigglers who does not change color when enraged.

===Personality===
Wiggler, like most Wigglers, has a very short temper and will thrash about when enraged.

==Abilities==
<gallery>
Like all Wigglers, Wiggler can become invincible when enraged and charges wildly at his opponent. It is also very fast, capable of running up hills and in water with no change in his velocity. These abilities are further enhanced by its immense size. It can also release steam from its nose when enraged or being sprayed with water.

==Trivia==
==Trivia==
*Due to a [[glitch]], if the player presses the {{button|gcn|Z}} button as soon as Wiggler is defeated and is beginning to turn into sand, the music will slow down even more than in normal gameplay.<ref>{{cite|author=HiLeonardo|date=June 17, 2009|url=www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3ucVEV67eQ|title=''Super Mario Sunshine'' - Glitch Showcase|publisher=YouTube|accessdate=June 24, 2024}}</ref>
*Although other games, including ''[[Super Mario 64]]'', its [[Super Mario 64 DS|remake]], ''[[Super Princess Peach]]'', and ''[[Mario Kart DS]]'' possess bosses based on Wigglers, ''Super Mario Sunshine''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s Wiggler boss is the only one whose appearance greatly differs from that of a regular Wiggler.
*In ''[[Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam]]'', ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions]]'', and ''[[Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey]]'', [[Petey Piranha]], [[Mom Piranha]], and the [[Big Piranha Plant]]s, respectively, use some of Wiggler's sound clips.
*When the player ground pounds Wiggler's body in ''Super Mario Sunshine'', the boss music speeds up once per hit. This doesn't happen with any other boss in the game.

*In ''The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker'', also for the [[Nintendo GameCube]], the battle against Puppet Ganon's Moldorm form is coincidently like the Wiggler boss battle. Here are the similarities:
