There is a Wario-like purple man on the Touch Screen and one or two people on the upper screen, all holding maracas. The objective of the game is similar to [[Wario Mambo]] from ''[[WarioWare: Twisted!]]'', where the player must memorize the moves of two people on the top screen. After they perform, a four count starts. When that count is complete, those people do those moves again, and the player must match their movements. The player must also match the rhythm the moves are performed with, not just their order. A guide appears as the moves are performed by the people on the Top Screen indicating which input to use and the specific direction or button if applicable. If the player messes up or does not follow the rhythm while matching the moves, the player loses. Each sequence involves two, four, or eight moves; most sequences have four moves. After three sequences, the game speeds up. After three more sequences, the game ends successfully.

The game has three states. The game always starts in the standing state, where two people are on the Top Screen and the view is zoomed out. This state can have Mash or Twist inputs. Another state zooms in both screens, with only one person on the Top Screen. Both that person and the the purple man hold tamborines, and the game can only request Touch inputs. Lastly, a third state is similar to the second state but has both people's heads in front of a flower with a microphone. The flower has two gear like sets of petals. The game can only request Blow inputs in this state. The state for Blow inputs is always the final sequence of Wario Dance Company.

Wario Deluxe makes a comment each time the player succeeds at a sequence. In Story Mode, this is accompanied by [[Lulu]]'s commentary.

The dance sequence for each difficulty level is as follows:
