Very Gnawty is a giant Gnawty and the boss of the Kongo Jungle in the game Donkey Kong Country. His name is a pun on "very naughty". He is the first boss of the game, appearing in the level Very Gnawty's Lair. His behavior consists of hopping across the battle arena, damaging the Kongs upon touching them. The characters must attack Very Gnawty by jumping on him, causing the enemy to move faster. After five such hits, he gasps and collapses onto the ground, signifying defeat.
Very Gnawty, also named Gnawty and Gnawty Beaver, is a giant Gnawty and the first boss in Donkey Kong Country. Very Gnawty has black-patterned green fur and pink hands, ears and webbed feet, as well as two buckteeth, three fingers on each hand and an orange belly and tail. Its name is a pun on the phrase "very naughty," substituting the latter word with Gnawty. As a boss, Very Gnawty is fought in Very Gnawty's Lair, at the end of Kongo Jungle. It repeatedly hops across the arena. Like with most other enemies, Very Gnawty can damage Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong by touching them. Very Gnawty can take damage from being stomped, and it moves quicker and hops higher with each hit. After five hits, Very Gnawty is defeated.

In the Game Boy Advance version, Very Gnawty's fur color was changed to red, formerly that of Really Gnawty's, who in turn had its fur color changed to blue. Additionally, when Very Gnawty is hit in its boss battle, it jumps to the other side of the arena before continuing to hop around. Additionally, after defeating Really Gnawty, there is a one-time event of Very Gnawty in DK's Tree House, and when the Kongs enter, it turns around to look at them, pants, and proceeds to hop out of the entrance.

In Super Mario-kun, Very Gnawty is the mother of a baby Gnawty and attacks the heroes when they hurt her kid when he attempted to scare Mario and Yoshi with shadow tricks. She is defeated when Mario ignites some TNT Barrels she is holding with a fireball. The baby Gnawty will later reappear in Millstone Mayhem trying to use the titular obstacles to get revenge.

In the Game Boy Advance version, Very Gnawty is recolored brown and is larger than he was in the original game. When hit, he will jump to the other side of the arena before continuing his attack.

*Really Gnawty is a palette swap of Very Gnawty; while Very Gnawty has green fur, Really Gnawty has brown fur. These colors are swapped in the Game Boy Advance remake of the game, though like all Gnawties, Really Gnawty's fur became blue rather than green.
*Gnawties around the size of Very Gnawty appear in Donkey Kong 64, near Cranky's Lab in Jungle Japes. Despite their size, these Gnawties are as weak as regular ones and can be defeated in one hit.
*In the Game Boy Advance version, Very Gnawty can also be found inside DK's Tree House after defeating Really Gnawty. When he realizes Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong has entered the tree house, the beaver runs past them and out of the front door. This can be performed only once per file.
*In Nintendo Magazine System (UK)'s 26th issue, Really Gnawty was also named Gnawty Beaver like Very Gnawty, who was described as being his "fallen comrade." On another page, generic Gnawties were also named Gnawty Beaver, specifically the ones operating the millstones.
*Gnawties equal in size to Very Gnawty appear in Donkey Kong 64, near Cranky's Lab in Jungle Japes. The only difference between Very Gnawty and these Gnawties is that the large Gnawties of Donkey Kong 64 can be defeated in just one hit, rather than five as in Donkey Kong Country.
