The Vault Guard (or vault guard) is a Mushroom person in charge of guarding the treasury of the Mushroom Castle. In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, the chancellor gives Mario access to the vault to help him in his quest to find Princess Peach. Although he is supposed to guard a vital part of the castle, the Vault Guard is, in fact, a big coward. For example, during Mack's invasion of the Mushroom Kingdom, the Vault Guard ran away and hid in the guest room instead of protecting the treasures of the vault.
