:::::::Special:WantedFiles is just as useful as Special:WantedPages. If the flooding weren't such a problem, it could be used as a suggestion what images are needed to make the articles image complete instead of relying on Image and more images. The special pages are there for what normal users missed with the tagging. As for replacing images, that is why my uploads tend to be as close of a match as possible to the low-quality images as to not lose context. I allow myself a little freedom to improvise if the image would turn out better than the original. -- 13:44, 24 May 2016 (EDT) | :::::::Special:WantedFiles is just as useful as Special:WantedPages. ::::::::The difference is it's not common practice to link to non-existent images in hopes they would be uploaded with that same filename and type. It's not like linking to a page we know will be created on that specific name. -- 15:36, 24 May 2016 (EDT) | ::::::::The difference is it's not common practice to link to non-existent images in hopes they would be uploaded with that same filename and type. :::::::::The remaining plus side to redlinking to image files that don't exist is that you can encourage certain file formats, such as the [[MarioWiki:Image | :::::::::The remaining plus side to redlinking to image files that don't exist is that you can encourage certain file formats, such as the preferred PNG, so that way things are less vague when people try to upload an image. One notable con to this redlinking is potential for inefficient file uploads, meaning we should try to use the image in more than one article or make the sampled image work for more than one article. I can't tell you how many times I came across duplicate images. Efficient uploading and linking makes things easier to maintain. -- 17:38, 24 May 2016 (EDT) |
