Mario Super Sluggers
I noticed you put the news in the Mario Super Sluggers article that chances are really slim that the game will reach Nintendo of Europe territories. I assume you posted this based on conclusions you reached (including that it's been more than one year that the game was released in US and Japan)? --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! Hi wanna be friends? Gamer2.1 ok
Re:Made in Ore Again
Yeah, those "all hiragana" contest rules suck, huh?
Here is how I think it breaks down:
じしん・作・が・できたら・おくろう!
「コンテスト・の・ちゅうい」・さえ・まもれば、
ないよう・は・じゆう・だ。
or:
If you can make it yourself, send it in!
If you obey the "contest warnings"
the details are up to you.
"Contest warnings" is the block of disclaimers at the bottom of the page, by the way.
As for "otayori club", it's a Famitsu thing. I'm not sure exactly what its purpose is, but "o-tayori" means "news" (with the "o" respectful prefix). - 2257(Talk)
- Also, I should mention that "ファミ通" is one way to write "Famitsu" (the name is a shortened form of "ファミコン通" or "Famicom Authority". - 2257(Talk)
Re: WarioWare Person
- Question 1
- Ko Takeuchi joined Nintendo in 2000.
- First game he was involved with is a Hamtaro game (in the Kikizo interview, he said Wario Land 4, though, but the Hamtaro game is older). His job was the assistant director.
- Next game was Wario Land 4, for which he made the background graphics.
- He designed the characters for WarioWare (already known).
- ! I don't understand why he did choose the job as a game designer.
- I think you are referring to this sentence: 「この仕事を選んだのは、絵を描く仕事をしたいと思っていた事が理由ですね。」, meaning approximately "In selecting this job, my motivation was that I thought 'I want a drawing job', you know?"
- Takeuchi studied cartooning in the United States (already known).
- After his return to Japan, he applied to different companies related to visual arts, including at least one game company (Warp). He entered the video game industry this way.
- Question 2
- ! What does he say about Hiroji Kiyotake (designer of Wario)?
- 「『メイドインワリオ』に携わっていた時には清武博二さんと一緒に、根気良く指導してもらった事は今でも忘れません。」"When working on 'Made in Wario', sometimes I would be with Kiyotake Hiroji-san. Even now, I haven't forgotten the patient leadership he gave us."
- ! What does he say about Hiroji Kiyotake (designer of Wario)?
- Question 3
- He sees the game Mother as a masterpiece (or does he mean the series as a whole?).
- ! What does he say about character design?
- Sadly, I don't know.
- Question 4
- ! His character designs are often based on real people (not sure about that, the translations were a bit odd).
- You're correct.
- When a new character idea comes to his mind, he draws it into a small sketch book.
- Rather, I believe he says that when he sees a fascinating person he sketches them.
- ! Nintendo is a "gold mine" of character ideas, what is exactly meant?
- I believe it says this: "Regarding Nintendo, Sakamoto Yoshio said it first; because fun people are numerous, it's a treasury of character ideas (laughs)." He doesn't literally describe it as a "gold mine". I'm thinking the translation program you used inserted that, as "a gold mine of X" is an English expression that means "a place where you can find a lot of good X". Or maybe you knew what a gold mine is, and I misunderstood the question. :P
- ! His character designs are often based on real people (not sure about that, the translations were a bit odd).
- Question 5
- ! I don't really understand at all what the bad translations say. :-(
- Translating this is beyond my capabilities. Nevertheless, I tried! The result is sort of incoherent, but here it is anyway, for better or worse.
- ! I don't really understand at all what the bad translations say. :-(
- Q5: "I want to make this sort of game" or "I'd enjoy a game like this", etc. Please tell us your hopes for the gaming industry in the future. And last, now turning to the readers who watch the gaming industry, please tell us what you think is the most important thing in creating a game, and what you have to keep in mind when it's time to release a game to the public.
- Takeuchi: Nowadays, I think that people who hesitate to finish games that you can't win if you don't give it your all are not scarce. For that reason, I think that if there's a game where you can have a little bit of fun if you just play a short time, that's good. When we were kids, there was one game that everyone would gather around and take turns playing. I want to make a game like that, you know?
- Personally, because I am making fairytale works aimed at children, I am dream of possessing their work, and making a system whereby one can come into contact with the work of children nationwide. It might be like the feeling of a picture-story-show-person. Because children are honest, they won't show any interest in an uninteresting thing, and so you can study the truth. Now for the work of such a person, the development has a good influence on them. Because of that, I can't leave. Every day I devote myself to this.
- I think the most important thing in creating a game is "affectionate feelings".
- Working on a team, to make one thing is a very great matter. That's important to emphasize. However, when one worries about their team members, I hope they can hold on to their "affectionate feelings". So that an atmosphere of mutual respect can exist, one might take it upon themselves to create it. If many people like that appear, the vitality of the Games industry will become apparent.
Overall, I think this is a bit beyond me. I'm always happy to help, of course, but my talent only goes so far. I recommend that you check category:user ja if you need more help. Please don't think that this means I resent your coming to me for help, as I want to do whatever I can. I'm just concerned that what I can do may not be enough. - 2257(Talk) 01:34, 22 December 2009 (EST)
- Yes, I believe the lines with no comment to be correct. I'm always glad to do what I can. :) - 2257(Talk) 15:19, 22 December 2009 (EST)
RE:Wario Land 4 Enemies
The names I got were from the english guide (Sold out on Ebay and Amazon) so the names are official. User:Mecha-Boss Unit
I hadn't heard at the time that there was such a guide, and I thought they were fan names. Yes, I do think we should wait for more proof of such a guide. - 2257(Talk) 13:53, 24 December 2009 (EST)
While I don't want to make any accusations, that seems like a bit of an unbelievable story to me. If this book exists, there must be some record of it somewhere. Personally, I don't think we should allow the article names to be changed until there is proof of such a book. - 2257(Talk) 21:19, 24 December 2009 (EST)
I can't deny the story does have some significant holes. But even if we assume it exists, a book that mysteriously vanishes because Amazon inexplicably took the infos off? That's no reliable source, and we would risk our credibility by relying on that. So, until this mystery-shrouded guide gets some manifestation, those infos are too dubious to rely on. - Gabumon(talk) 14:25, 26 December 2009 (EST)

Re: Wario Land II FA
That's scary. I was thinking about EXACTLY the same a little earlier today (really). Oh, and there is no need to tale a back seat. The work and effort you put into that article is definitely as hard as the amount I put in it. :3
As for the actual question: I would love to see the Wario Land II article featured, and it is definitely on its way to FA status. However, there are still some minor things left that need to be done. I have to clean up some of the link-mess I made back then when I was new and unexperienced, and a few red links need to become blue. Once this is done, the article should be able to make the cut :3
What was it you wanted to talk about with me? - Gabumon(talk) 15:36, 30 December 2009 (EST)
- I tried to correct some of the things you mentioned. As for the reasons I capitalized all of the Story titles, see this conversation between Tucayo and me. The first Story articles I created were uncapitalized, but they were moved to capitalized variants, so I followed that pattern. I think those english name you mentioned are fine. - Gabumon(talk) 08:30, 31 December 2009 (EST)
Hello. Sorry for my late response. I will take care of the Hen matter in some time. The template in general needs a little work. It was my first attempt back then, and is a little rough. Though I have my doubts that Giant Spear Man and Mecha Kuri are different persons, I understand that we have to be objective, and therefore you are right about a separate article. I don't really know about the Spear Men matter. You moved the article to Pirate Goom, so that seems to be an official name. Why referring to them as Spear Men on the WL2 articles? - Gabumon(talk) 14:21, 13 January 2010 (EST)
Re: Wario Dayo
Thanks =). The only title I see is the ”怪盗ワリオ偏” which means its part of the Phantom Thief Wario series. I don't remember if each individual story has a title, however. -- Garlic Man (talk)
- Sorry for the rather late response. I found my "Ore Dayo! Wario Dayo!!" books, and also found the chapter that the link shows. It is entitled "お宝がっぽり大作戦!"(Otakara Gappori Daisakusen!) and it, as you mentioned, is the first story of the Wario in Disguise series, and the 5th chapter of the second book. As for meanings of each word, "Otakara" means "Treasures", "Daisakusen" literally means a big or "Grand Plan", and "Gappori" doesn't have a literal translation but the idea is that he's taking the whole thing or taking a large amount(The word is usually used to describe Money or Wealth). Roughly, "Grand Plan to seize All Treasures" or something. Actually, that's not a very good translation, but at the moment, it's the best I can think of. --Garlic Man (talk)
- I can help with a summary after you make the article if you'd like me to. -Garlic Man (talk)
Unknown Name
Hey Grandy02, could you assist me with something? Do you per chance know the name of this enemy from Wario Land 3? Thanks for reading. - Gabumon(talk) 11:06, 1 January 2010 (EST)
- Meh, Nintendo should be a little more generous with information about those classics. Those games would really deserve it. Anyway, thanks for your time :3 - Gabumon(talk) 11:16, 1 January 2010 (EST)
- Hi, it's me again with another problem. You probably remember those blocks in Wario Land 2 and 3 which can only be broken by Fat Wario. I have trouble thinking about a conjectural name for those blocks, to create an article with. On the Wario Land 2 page I called them "Cracked Blocks", but this name is flawed, because the same blocks aren't cracked at all in Wario Land 3. Instead there is a donut symbol on them. Do you have any idea how to name them? - Gabumon(talk) 15:14, 2 January 2010 (EST)

DKL atlas scan?
Is it possible for you to upload a scan of the atlas (all 4 maps) from the DKL instruction manual? The reason is that I uploaded the 4 world maps to VGMaps.com in 2005, and when I typed the levels up, I just tried to remember from memory, but I've been searching for any instruction manual scans for this game on and off since then. I've lost my own (although it may eventually turn up at the back of a chest of drawers covered in cobwebs or something. Something I always got confused about the level names is 4-1 and 4-3. IIRC the manual states that 4-1 is called "Construction Site Fight", and 4-3 is called "Balloon Barrage", however, the actual levels actually fit the other level's name. For example Balloon Barrage is on a Construction Site, and Construction Site Fight has Balloons. But basically, can you scan the maps (directly from the manual to show the level names)?
Names
I know the names from the Yoshi's island guide aren't necessarily the only ones assigned to the enemies, but they were being changed into different ones instead of another name being added, so correct information was being removed by the edits (no source was provided for the new names either). Just clearing this up, I wasn't trying to insist that the YI names were the only official names with that edit, just pointing out the fact that they are official names so they shouldn't be changed. Sorry if I have caused any trouble.--vellidragon 14:03, 9 March 2010 (EST)
- I'm awful at Japanese, but I have looked into those paragraphs anyway to perhaps make up for the name thing. Here's what I could figure out, it's not much help though (comments are in italics):
For the 15th contest thingy:
Here is the subject of the contest now. (Rather loosely translated, but probably unimportant) Streneous application please. (? I'm assuming this means something like "please put effort into this"? It seems to be used a lot in contest instructions and such. Probably not important.) (I put "-"s here where the original text had spaces:) The 15th theme - illustration stamp (this appears to refer to some sort of rubber stamp with a picture; compare this) - person - details: let's make a game that uses "oekaki(/sketch)" in ("in" is what it seems to say literally, I don't know how to understand it in this case) "illustration stamp - person"! (Not at all sure about this unfortunately :\) The deadline is 2010/2/8. The announcing of the results is scheduled at 2010/3/3.
That probably doesn't help much, but it seems to have to do with rubber stamps. The 14th one is apparently about the colour white:
"Let's make a game that is imagined to be 'something white'. (No idea about this one, probably translated it too literally :/) Of course using other colours is OK" were the details [??? I can't give a precise translation of the rest, but it just seems to mention that the part in quotes was the subject of the contest].
Yeah, I know that doesn't help at all, sorry. :\ I'm awfully bad at this and will never get better, so maybe you should wait for someone more skilled to help with this.--vellidragon 16:05, 9 March 2010 (EST)

I had read the message, and while reminding my self each time I saw it, telling myself that I would get around to it, 2 weeks had gone by. Sorry about that ^^;;. Your translation for the monochrome contest was accurate, as well as the Stamp feature one and the new Spring-themed one. I basically literally translated contest #14 and added onto the article, also. And, the two image opposes that look like support votes; Yes, those were irony :P. It was sort of in reaction to the people that were complaining about users who were opposing for what they considered illegitimate reasons. --Marcelagus (T • C • E)

Re:Wario Land II screenshot
Hello. I don't recall that location being in the game at all, to be honest. There are definitely no broken ledges in the game, I cannot recall any of those chains being that long (they all have uniform length afaik), and those jars on the right side of the image are odd as well. To my knowledge, these jars don't appear in those dungeon-y like environments. The dungeons usually had crates, I think. - Gabumon(talk) 18:34, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- If the page would be too short and only stub material, we should think about just including it as a section in the game's article first. Later, when the section becomes too big, it could be moved to a separate beta elements page. - Gabumon(talk) 21:48, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
RE: Mario Paint Artwork
I don't recall much of this anymore since that image was uploaded in 2007. Most of the time I think I used some websites like GameKult, or Googling. Sorry, there's not much info I provide you. Or it could be GameHiker (which unfortunately is down at the moment) - that's one last possibility.
Say, would you like to assist me in helping me replace bad images with new ones? I may be a notable contributing member who uploads oodles of images, but I'm in maintenance mode - challenging myself to do it under 7 days. It's Day 4/7, and I'm not alone in this task of replacing them myself. I'm asking some users to help. Would you like to help me? --RAP... 07:45, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oh nice - maybe you can start somewhere simple, like SMB3 (SNES) perhaps? As for the artwork, indeed so. Their faces may look the same, even with the same style, but the legs are the main difference. I'm not sure what to do with this since Mario Paint artwork is rather obscure (hey - it's more of a tool than a game IMO ;o). Oh goody! A link! Do you actually have other unique Nintendo links besides the usual stuff - preferably the technical side? Sorry if I ask you this, but I've been asking people if they know any links about Nintendo that is worth reading about. --RAP... 08:42, 9 July 2010 (UTC) We should really talk more. :3

Don't worry, that's just a harmless glitch that I experienced (which occurred shortly after the wiki was upgraded), to double-check that your upload is successful, type "?action=purge" after the filename, or any article or page that needs purging. There - you will see the true result. --RAP... 09:23, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Hey Grandy02, are you familiar with the Featured Article process? Usually Time Q regulates it but he's now busy in a university. Can you help? MG1 commented me about this - and it's in my talk page. --RAP... 10:29, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I appreciate your work - but I thought you were going to replace the images I listed above me with fresh images, not just compress them. --RAP... 10:57, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Well, I like to have new images that are taken with the original size. Back then, the majority of the screenshots were enlarged by a former image uploader, Yoshi Master (talk); but to me, it just feels wrong and weird. The new images just feel natural. --RAP... 20:46, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Correct-o, you must snapshot the images from the emulator in the original size it was supposed to be designed. TVs stretch out the screen to make it look good. :p Other emulators for the N64 (lower than 640 × 480), and the GC and Wii (up to that level - but if the aliasing filter is applied to that, I might let go of the required resolution, but I'm not likely sure if there are advantages on having a screenshot very large). --RAP... 17:27, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Wario
No, in the featured article pages, I didn't say it was like a second grader because of the stuff in it, it was because some of the lines weren't drawn in.

Nucleartoad24
Hey, can block User:Nucleartoad24? Hes a sock of Cmario17 and a troll.
Oh, well, then hes impersonating other users, since he wrote Hi, nick -Cmario17, on Mileycyrussoulja's talk page.
RE: The Princess Peach Image
Hey there, Grandy02; from what I saw, the person might have possibly scanned it from the cards for that "Mario Party E" card game. My issue with that was that it was STILL small and VERY poor quality. Of course, if someone has a better quality version of that image and has a possible high-quality scanner, then it can be reuploaded for here. :) --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! RE:Bowser Artwork
I found it on this site http://www.bowsershrine.com/bowserrenders.php seeing how it look from SMB3. L151
Warning
Is fuzzipede justified in giving mcd and me those warnings? I mean they're OUR user talks and we have gaven each other permission to say that. Some sysops have even swore with each other once in awhile. I don't really think we deserved the warnings. We were having a harmless conversation. from what ive read theres no rule against it. i doubt any kids would read it anyways since it was only on user talks and not on a mariowiki or mainspace.
Exactly, I only used a** ONCE and only once. And even then I changed it into something more approriate later. I mean I used it in a non-insulting context. A** is only a nasty word when used in the context of YOU BIG A**. Ass is ok if you're referring to a donkey and even butt. But I can stop. I was going to just stop and chat with him on youtube anyways. But may I please remove the warning? I really am not such a bad person, that I needed that. It isn't too much against the rules, but I'll stop.
But what if the warning is unjustified? Like Larryman's warnings?
No its ok, I've gotten over it. I just realized how immature I was being 0_0. Don't want to be petty of course.

Question about multiple upload
When you upload multiple files using the Upload multiple files. Is there any upload warning if one of the images uploaded already exists? Count Bonsula I need blood...09:37, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Re: Kirby Art
Thanks. ^-^ Yes, I do care about Kirby indeed. I could offer my high-resolution sprite replica of Revenge of Metaknight, some ugly pencil sketches, or that weird comic I once drew. Would any of that stuff be sufficient? - Gabumon(talk) 15:15, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, yes, sorry. Writing the reply slipped my mind somehow. x_X I will see if I can whip something up. - Gabumon(talk) 19:31, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
Reminder check please?
Can you check if this is a valid reminder? You know, I think it's a bit harsh. But that's just my opinion.it is here. Count Bonsula I need blood...18:47, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Re: Kirby Art (Vellidragon)
Hey :3 Nice website. It's rare to see a good Kirby site in German. Anyway, I have started on a picture, based on a random idea I had. It will probably take me ages to complete, especially with my usual working pace, but I'll do my best to get it finished in time :3 (Also, unrelated to the picture but related to the website, the "omocha hako" in the name of the Kirby baseball game should be "omochabako"; it's one of those compounds where rendaku occurs.)--vellidragon 20:20, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
