BREAKING NEWS: Mysterious Umbra Nightwing behind Mario & Luigi: Brothership Southeast Asian copy heist (and somehow paid for it too??). This news will SHOCK YOU!

Hi! Welcome to my talkpage. If you got something on your mind, feel free to leave anything on my talk page as long as it's appropriate and follows the wiki guidelines. This also extends to concerns regarding wiki activity.

Here's a list of things I can answer:

 • Clarifications regarding certain contributions or edits
 • Researched information (Be sure to bring sources along with you!)
 • Birthday greetings
 • Personal interests and stuff (I can ramble about anything as long as it's not TOO personal.)
 • Astrakitu Lore (and other OCs lore)
 • Development status on my projects (Captain Toad: Prism Star Quest, Super Cat Wars, etc.)
 • Important Wiki matters (for Staff and concerned editors), this includes proposals and maybe suggestions for me to join The Shroom at some point?

Do note however I'm not active often on the Wiki's main pages, as you can contact me quick and easy in the Super Mario Wiki Discord server. You know where to look. If you need clarifications on edits I made, do feel free to let me know. If you still insist to talk to me specifically on my talkpage or other article talkpages, ping me on the Discord server with the relevant talkpage link.

If too many talkpage responses clog this page up, I'll move them to subpage archives. I'll let you all know when this happens.

Miiverse[edit]

Are you the guy who I saw on Miiverse? Joseph (talk) (contribs) Joseph's mii.jpg REPLY: Of course, I'm still AgentJDN! I uploaded some Miiverse screenshots to the Mario Wiki (my first upload was the Paper Jam Game Over!) in case you're wondering.

Kirby references[edit]

Hi. If you are wondering why some games are missing in List of Mario references in video games, we've moved all Mario references in Nintendo games (including Kirby) here, and are in the process of moving the rest to List of Mario references in third-party video games. Image category[edit]

Hello, CyonOfGaia. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/video files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, images related to the game Super Mario World would use:

or one it its subcategories. Media files would use:

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

For images from non-Mario games, simply add Category:Miscellaneous Game Images and remove uncategorized. Samus costume, in Super Mario Maker. Mario JC 07:16, 27 January 2018 (EST)

Italics[edit]

Hello, please remember to italicise game titles (Super Mario Bros. 3, not Super Mario Bros. 3) whenever you name them, not just in section headers. Samus costume, in Super Mario Maker. Mario JC 06:47, June 11, 2019 (EDT)

Bonus episode in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker[edit]

I was sure ages ago I added an "s" to the end of "Super Mario Odyssey Kingdom" in the Bonus Episode article as it does appear that way in my game, though I looked at the edit history and the discord channel and you show it doesn't. I'm assuming this is a difference between American and British English versions. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 06:49, October 11, 2023 (EDT)

For reference the copy of Treasure Tracker I got was the American English copy, as is with other games that were distributed in the Philippines. Did you also update the game to the one with Special Episode before also saying this? Might be another factor in that case. --EleCyon (talk) 06:51, October 11, 2023 (EDT)
I have got the Special Episode too and the title is no different. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 06:55, October 11, 2023 (EDT)
Huh, then might be an odd language difference then. Are you able to switch your game's language to American English instead of British English to check, or is there no option for that? --EleCyon (talk) 07:07, October 11, 2023 (EDT)

Amazing work on the Mario vs. Donkey Kong (Nintendo Switch) articles![edit]

Hi there! Great work doesn't go unnoticed. I'm here to tell you my appreciation for working on the new articles for the Mario vs. Donkey Kong remake! It's great to see those articles finally be created. Keep up the great work! link:User:Sparks Sparks (talk) link:User:Sparks 20:50, April 18, 2024 (EDT)

Hi! Thanks a lot for coming to my talkpage! I honestly really loved the gameplay of this game and I feel it deserves way more documentation than it what it currently has at the moment. Hopefully I can get some more articles out soon! --EleCyon (talk) 20:52, April 18, 2024 (EDT)

Re:New image uploads[edit]

Hi, I carried out a deletion request you made for File:M&LB Glohm Gorumbla pre-battle.png. To make things easier, make sure you check at the bottom of the file page for all the pages the image is used in before you mark for deletion. If there are pages listed, replace the old image with the new one. Finally, if the deletion reason mentions an image replacement, it will help to link to the new image by adding a colon (:) before the "File" namespace; for instance I recommend you write :File:M&LBrothership GlohmGorumblaPrepare.jpg somewhere in your deletion reason.

Hope it's clear. Take care! 🍝 Mario It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:57, November 23, 2024 (EST)

I gotcha, I'll see what I can do the next time I tackle replacement images. --CyonOfGaia (talk) 22:23, November 23, 2024 (EST)

Game appearances[edit]

Seeing your sandbox had me wondering, "Why do we title the heading History when it's more clearly Game appearances?" I wonder if this will be changed at some point. Super Mario RPG (talk) 07:10, January 15, 2025 (EST)

History is definitely due to stuff like appearances in TV shows, anime, movies, etc. lumped in into the section. I had a bit of a lapse for a second and misnamed the section as "Game appearances" in my sandbox article due to it being used for documenting game appearances on the WiKirby wiki. I'll probably change it back to History for consistency, but this subject might be ripe for a potential proposal, we might see. --CyonOfGaia (talk) 07:14, January 15, 2025 (EST)
I'd support such a proposal. Would "Appearances" work better? Super Mario RPG (talk) 07:16, January 15, 2025 (EST)
I'd say something like Game appearances, then Media appearances would work fine in my opinion. Should be of note in the event either of us decides to make a proposal on this. --CyonOfGaia (talk) 07:32, January 15, 2025 (EST)

Concordia Islands[edit]

Do you think you can help expand on the Islands of Concordia in Mario & Luigi: Brothership? And perhaps add screenshots as well? --link:User:ZanyDragon ZanyDragon (talk) 22:34, January 23, 2025 (EST)

I've got a couple of screenshots ready if that's anything of note, I've done that for Merrygo Island before. Keep in mind I haven't played the game in months so I'm gonna try to remember what I got. --CyonOfGaia (talk) 05:48, January 24, 2025 (EST)
Okay, thanks. --link:User:ZanyDragon ZanyDragon (talk) 13:22, January 27, 2025 (EST)

Mario Party talk icons[edit]

Every MP game has square talk icons (which are reflected in their respective galleries, many of which the square is part of the same graphic), and in general talk icon galleries work the best when they are consistently sized to their native proportions, not just for sizing, but for their positioning relative to the square area (ie, some are intended to appear along the bottom, some along the middle, etc). Size-wise, it looks awful when the pixels are not sized consistently with the others on the same sprite or other sprites, and either way, MP8 has no reason to be the odd one out in that regard. Generally speaking, native-size is preferable for that type of image than tampering with them by cutting out negative space that is intentionally there, and it looks better for our purposes anyway if the negative space isn't overwhelming. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:00, February 8, 2025 (EST)

Hmmm... right now I'm wondering if there's a way to resize the image previews in galleries without the need to undo the cropping. That's a talking point I'd wanna check in right now, actually. --Mini Mario in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars. >>CYON of Gaia<< 23:05, February 8, 2025 (EST)
There is (the "rawsize" class, which is generally preferable for more "pixely" sprites), but it doesn't change their placement relative to the frame (which as previously mentioned, is also important), and they shouldn't be cropped in the first place. Ideally, we'd be able to set up a table for NPCs on the main page using them, and that too is easier when they're all the same size - the only way to get around that is with a lot of extra HTML and CSS, which takes up far more data than just having them at their native file parameters does. Ultimately, they're supposed to be the same size by design, and it doesn't really make any sense to subvert that. Doing that bad-c-portmanteau thing is nothing but a waste of time, and generally images store better anyway when their dimensions are a multiple of 8 (hence why they are in the first place). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:14, February 8, 2025 (EST)
No, those pictures should be cropped to content, there's little to no benefit to adhering to original technical limitations in this wiki, and the "it looks bad on galleries" isn't a strong position that was rebuked in that failed proposal. By the way, we are not going to have constant arguments over this, that proposal about image dimensions you made has long been failed so if someone, especially staff, reverts your edits, then you should knock it off. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 13:03, February 9, 2025 (EST)
I am allowed to say my piece, especially when there is no benefit gained by cropping these. The position that was reached by the proposal was "determine on case-by-case basis," and I think in this case, they should remain untampered with - especially since another consensus that was reached was "don't mess with other users' uploading projects," which the initial crop (I'm not using that vulgar longer word) was absolutely an example of doing. I am not doing anything like edit warring, I am merely explaining on the user's talk page why I think that cropping in this case is an inherent negative to the wiki's quality. (Also... aren't you like, supposed to protest when you see someone with authority doing something you think they shouldn't lol? From my personal perspective, chopping off the negative space on these poor sprites would be like chopping out the background of the Mona Lisa because "the face is the only part that matters." And most people would agree that that would certainly be bad.) Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:51, February 9, 2025 (EST)
This isn't whether you're allowed to say your piece or not. This is a request to stop hounding editors over their edits like these (your opinions of cropped borders have seen heavy disagreement especially in the comments of your failed proposal, CyonofGaia's edits have been staff approved by the way) breaking rule 2 of the courtesy policy regarding giving other editors a hard time over edits (including reverts). Consider this an informal warning to your behavior; the staff has noticed and has been very lenient on your discipline lately but the kid gloves have been taken off. Please do not further argue this matter further with me. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 01:54, February 10, 2025 (EST)
