| ==Imageframe(?) tag?==
| |
| Hello 2257, I recall seeing some kind of imageframe tag being used in one of the articles in MarioWiki and I can't seem to figure out where it is, or what the name is. I need to know what is the name of the tag, and how it functions. As far as my knowledge goes, it allows you to display two images in a frame without any overlapping. Do you know what it is? Can you please assist me? --{{User:RAP/sig}} 21:39, 7 November 2011 (EST)

| == RE: Monobook ==
| |
|
| |
| Hey. Thanks for the reply, I'm still no good at all this skin stuff. I admit that I don't really know the difference between cascade style sheet and custom Javascript. Is it just that they are both able to do different things? Anyway, I'm really sorry to bother you with all this, but I just need some advice. But I've messed around with that CSS Tutorial you showed me in the chat, and I found some cool thing there. I even took a look at other user's monobooks here, including yours ^^. I had a whirl at importing your monobook.css, and I quite liked it. I didn't keep it, though. What I'll find handy for a skin is having the link to recent changes on the side bar to automatically go to;<br><tt><nowiki>http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&hidemyself=1</nowiki></tt><br>
| |
| Because that would be easier than always clicking the link "Hide my edits", because I never really need to see my edits, just stuff that other users are doing. So just one request, could you please write me a code to change that sidebar link? You don't have to, but that would be fantastic. Thanks!
| |
|
| |
| :Additionally, what is the difference between the /monobook and the /common ?
| |
|
| |
| ::It works perfectly, thanks! You're the best. But I do have ''one'' more question, I hope you don't mind. I have previously tried writing my /monobook.js, and it seemed to work when I previewed it before it was created, but it hasn't worked thereafter. Please take a look at [[User:YoshiKong/monobook.js]]. I wanna add a link to my work page on the links at the top of the page (between "talk" and "preferences"). Can you figure out where I went wrong? And is it able to be merged with my /common.js ?
| |
|
| |
| :::Thanks so much! :D

| == Hey, I don't know if you're still around or not... ==

|
| |
| I just wanted to say thanks.
| |
| I've been doing a lot of writing and world-building over the past few years, delving deeper and deeper into the details of how everything manages to work the way it does. It adds a layer of plausability and depth that I wouldn't be able to work with otherwise, and I think it all started with your theory on Evanadium.
| |
| That kick-started my own detail work, realizing that the devil is in the details (so to speak), and I've gotten a lot of positive feedback regarding the level of detail I've put into my world-building.
| |
| So I just wanted to say thank you for sharing Evanadium those years ago. It seriously changed my life.
| |
| Thanks.

| |
|
| |
| Before I do anything else, I just like to know what a "ruby characters" template is. {{User:Bazooka Mario/sig}} 14:14, 7 November 2015 (EST)
| |
| :Hm, that's what I thought. Our wiki doesn't have an equivalent, but I've been suggested by an admin and [[MarioWiki:Japanese]] to use span class explain tags as in [[Big Lantern Ghost]]'s profile. I wasn't aware of the existence of a ruby tag, but I do think our wiki can benefit from a template of either the two since explain tags are usually a pain to write out anyway. {{User:Bazooka Mario/sig}} 14:29, 7 November 2015 (EST)
| |
|
| |
| ::あのう、as for that ruby character template, I [http://www.mariowiki.com/MarioWiki_talk:Japanese#furigana_template suggested] the idea on 13 February 2016 but Walkazo didn't reply me even though she [http://www.mariowiki.com/Talk:Main_Page#statistics was responding] on something else later so I guess she personally didn't approve of the idea. It seems to be because many pages have already started to use <code><span class=explain title="..."></span></code> so switching to a new template will be huge work and leaving two ways of introducing furigana will be messy and look inconsistent. On an unrelated note, <ruby><rb>私</rb><rp>(</rp><rt>わたし</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby>は<ruby><rb>中国人</rb><rp>(</rp><rt>ちゅうごくじん</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby>から、<ruby><rb>日本語</rb><rp>(</rp><rt>にほんご</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby><ruby><rb>漢字</rb><rp>(</rp><rt>かんじ</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby>が<ruby><rb>分</rb><rp>(</rp><rt>わ</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby>かります。 [[User:A gossip-loving Toad|A gossip-loving Toad]] ([[User talk:A gossip-loving Toad|talk]]) 11:34, 23 April 2016 (EDT)

| where furigana will make the left and right columns out of sync? {{User:A gossip-loving Toad/sig}} 04:47, 7 May 2016 (EDT)
| |
| : This works, but there is a side problem: the wiki has a rather small font size, namely 12.7px for text and 12px for references. On a computer, this means that furigana will be about 6 or 7 px. An obvious solution is to have larger fonts or even special divs for game dialogues, like the one on [https://tcrf.net/Paper_Mario:_The_Thousand-Year_Door/Unused_Text The Cutting Room Floor], but I'm wondering what to do to the foreign name boxes on this wiki. Perhaps as
| |
| <blockquote>

| |Jap=ほうき星の天文台 (ほうきぼしのてんもんだい)
| |
| |JapR=Hōkiboshi no Tenmondai
| |
| |JapM=Comet Observatory
| |
| }}</blockquote>
| |
| :(This is the format used on the Japanese Wikipedia)? I'd like to see furigana when presenting original game text and dialogs, though. I have already used it [http://www.mariowiki.com/Comet_Observatory#cite_note-smg1rosalina-3 once]. {{User:A gossip-loving Toad/sig}} 05:08, 14 May 2016 (EDT)

| |
| #Should <ruby style="font-size:130%">鳳凰<rt>ほうおう</rt></ruby> be romanized as ''Hōō'' or ''Hō'ō'' ? Wiktionary does not include the apostrophe but I [http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Cractyl&type=revision&diff=2019455&oldid=1974941 added it] since I think it looks better when added.
| |
| #Sometimes a word is written in katakana but really from hiragana. Do you think they should still be romanized using the rules for hiragana? For example, "[[Koops|ノコタロウ]]" is derived from <ruby style="font-size:130%">太郎<rt>たろう</rt></ruby>. I suppose that should still be romanized as "Nokotarō" instead of "Nokotarou"?
