Banjo Bottom[1][2][3], also referred to as Banjo Tiki[4], is a high-ranking Tiki Tak Tribe member based off of a banjo. As its name implies, the bottom of its body resembles the body of a banjo, while its eyes and feathers rest on the headstock. Interestingly, it only has three strings, while banjos typically have at least four.

History

Donkey Kong Country Returns (3D / HD)

Banjo Bottom is first encountered in The Mole Train, the boss level of the Cave world in Donkey Kong Country Returns and its 3DS and Nintendo Switch ports. Banjo Bottom is supervising Mole Miners as they load bananas into mine carts. When it spots Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, it blows a whistle, causing the moles to hop into the mine carts. Banjo Bottom then hypnotizes Mole Miner Max to start the Mole Train's engine.

In the final level of the game, Tiki Tong Terror, Banjo Bottom and the other high-ranking members of the Tiki Tak Tribe are converted into hands for Tiki Tong.

Super Smash Bros. series

In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Banjo Bottom is mentioned in Mole Miner Max's trophy description.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Banjo Bottom is part of the Tiki Tak Tribe spirit, which includes all of the members who hypnotize bosses in Donkey Kong Country Returns.
