Twilight Town is a perpetually twilit town in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. While Mario and his friends are searching for the fourth Crystal Star, the Twilighters are turned into pigs by Doopliss, who eventually steals Mario's identity and tricked his friends (the team was unaware that the Mario they were with was actually Doopliss) and causes trouble here. However, Vivian the Shadow Siren joins Mario's team to help Mario break the curse and get his appearance back, abandoning her sisters in the process.
Twilight Town is a creepy, perpetually twilit town in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and is mainly inhabited by Twilighters, one of which, Dour, serves as the mayor. Crows inhabit Twilight Town as well, and players can listen to their conversations when Mario uses Vivian's field Veil ability. To enter Twilight Town through the pipe in Rogueport Underground, Mario is required to have his name to be written on his clothes, otherwise the pipe will reject him.

While Mario and his friends are searching for the fourth Crystal Star, the Twilighters are turned into pigs by a distant bell in Creepy Steeple. After heading there through Twilight Trail, Mario finds a Duplighost named Doopliss who had been responsible for the chaos caused in Twilight Town. Despite putting up a good fight, and reverting all of the Twilighters to normal in the process, Doopliss managed to steal Mario's identity in an attempt to cause more havoc.

A small section of Twilight Town called Twilight House, a reoccurring battle course in the Mario Kart series, is a large mansion suspended above the Twilight Trail. The battle course first appeared in Mario Kart DS and was later brought back as a retro battle course in Mario Kart Wii.

At around this time, Vivian had been looking for the Superbombomb after her sister Beldam framed her for "dropping" it. In his cursed state, Mario helped her find it, and as thanks Vivian decided to help him retrieve his identity. After listening in to a conversation of a parrot who Doopliss had locked up, the duo was able to correctly guess Doopliss's name, then battle him again back at Creepy Steeple, allowing Mario to win back his identity. The Twilighters, shocked over the fact that Doopliss had disguised himself as Mario, praised Mario for restoring peace to Twilight Town.
When Goombella tattles on the gatekeeper (who makes sure nobody goes past the gate to Twilight Trail which leads to the Creepy Steeple), she says that there is "a gatekeeper" in every town and if there wasn't, the game would be much easier to beat (because the player wouldn't have to deal with the mayor or get past the gatekeeper, they would just run to Doopliss). The mentioning of the "game," which refers to Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, breaks the Fourth wall.

Later on, Lord Crump is seen looking for the Superbombomb when he gets stopped by Bowser and Kammy Koopa. After a brief confrontation between the X-Nauts and the Koopa Troop, Bowser inadvertently ignites the Superbombomb, sending both groups flying.

Trivia
*Tattles
*The chapter in which this town is featured is entitled "For Pigs the Bell Tolls". This is a play on For Whom the Bell Tolls, a famous novel by author Ernest Hemingway.
**"This is Twilight Town. It's twilight here, which I guess makes sense, huh? That big moon gives me the heebie-jeebies. I guess the sky here is always the same... No morning, noon, or night... Wouldn't perpetual dusk get a little like, boring?"
*This is one of few locations in the game to use three dimensional characters instead of flat, paper-like characters. In this case, the pigs are rendered in 3D.
**"This is Twilight Town. The people here are just as shadowy as the sky... I wonder if I'd get that way if I lived here long enough? ...Gross. Still, I guess being all gothed-out is better than being a pig..."
*The in-game map description reads, "A town stuck in a perpetual state of dim twilight. Even the townspeople have dim, gray complexions, not to mention dim expressions."
*Map description
**"A town stuck in a perpetual state of dim twilight. Even the townspeople have dim, gray complexions, not to mention dim expressions." (GCN)
**"A town stuck in a perpetual state of dim twilight. Even the gloomy townspeople have dim expressions." (Switch)

Trivia
*Goombella breaks the fourth wall when she tattles on the gatekeeper; she says that there is "a gatekeeper" in every town and if there was not, the game would be much easier to beat.
*During the Bowser segment, an unseen item called the Twilight Blade can be found in the bushes, although Bowser then says "Just Joking". A similar occurrence also happens when checking one of the statues in Bowser's Castle.
