They are white doors with green spots and edges. They have a green and yellow awning and a red question mark flag. When unzipped, they reveal a solid rainbow layer which Yoshi walks directly through. Transformation Doors are similar in function to [[Whirly Gate]]s from ''[[Yoshi's New Island]]''; as their name implies, they transform [[Yoshi]] while transporting him to another part of the [[level]]. This transition is done against a black curtain, where Yoshi is encased in a [[Yoshi's Egg]]. The Egg bounces around, then Yoshi pops out transformed as the curtain rises to reveal the next section. There are always some key collectables in these sub-areas, such as [[Stamp Patch]]es/[[Pencil Patch]]es, [[Smiley Flower]]s, and [[Wonder Wool]]s. If Yoshi does not reach the exit in time or falls in a [[pit]] while transformed or gets crushed while transformed, he reappears at the door with anything he collected while transformed revoked. If Yoshi reaches the exit in time, he appears at an exit only door in another area, which is marked with a red "x" patch over the non-zipper portions and lacks the question mark flag. Only some levels have the exit door in the same area as the entrance door, so not every level allows Yoshi to repeatedly complete the section with the transformation.
