Top Notch is the Kat & Ana's Boss Game in Gold.
Gameplay
The player is shown a cake covered in toppings and ketchup on the Top Screen, and must replicate that cake on the Touch Screen. Toppings can overlap. The complexity of the cake on the Top Screen varies by level, though the relative positions of the toppings and the shape of the ketchup are not randomized. Duplicating this cake occurs in two distinct phases.

For the first phase, the player has to add the toppings onto the cake. There are a variable number of rounds of toppings to add. For each round, two trays of toppings scroll onto the screen, one for the left edge and the other for the right edge. The player can drag and drop them onto the cake. Once released over the cake, a topping cannot be reselected. Note that the orientation of each topping matters. Since there are no rotation controls, the topping of the correct orientation has to be placed in the correct location. Note that order matters, a topping placed later than another topping goes over the first topping. A timer in the lower left corner shows how much time is left in the current round. Less time is given for rounds with fewer toppings to place. Once that timer is out, any topping currently being moved is placed, snapping to the cake if it is over the table. Then the trays scroll off screen, taking any leftover toppings with them, and the next round begins. Rounds end early if the player all toppings in the trays have been placed.
Top Notch is the boss stage of Kat and Ana's microgames in Gold.

Once all rounds are complete, the player has to add ketchup to the cake. This is indicated by a ketchup bottle appearing on the Top Screen. The controls are similar to Feeling Saucy from WarioWare: Touched!: slide across the Touch Screen to lay down ketchup. The timer appears again to indicate the maximum amount of time. Note that the ketchup the player lays down is wider than the ketchup of the original cake. This phase ends early if the player has started to add ketchup then stops for long enough.
Gameplay
The player must add toppings onto a cake by using the stylus.
After the ketchup has been placed, the Head Chef walks onto the Top Screen to grade the player's cake. This is indicated by a red tinted shadow of the Top Screen cake scrolling down to the Touch Screen. They give the player's cake a score, and if that score is over the a variable minimum determined by level, then they pass the test and win the microgame. A photo is taken, that photo gets a medal, and the Head Chef claps. If the score is too low, the Head Chef falls over in disgust and the player loses. The lowest possible score is 0.
*1st level difficulty: There are four rounds of toppings to add. No toppings differ solely by orientation. (In other words, every topping is a different kind of food.) The last toppings are a set of three tempura with frosting, and they are the only toppings to overlap other toppings. The ketchup is a zigzagging line across the cake. 60 points are required to pass.
*2nd level difficulty: There are five rounds of toppings to add. Some rounds have trays with toppings that are not on the Top Screen's cake, which the player has to determine are not there and then not use those toppings. The difference between a topping that is or is not on the Top Screen's cake can be its orientation. Toppings that should not be used do not count towards the length of the timer of the round. Rounds additionally end early if the number of toppings from that round placed on the cake matches the number of toppings from that round that are supposed to be on the cake. (In other words, placing incorrect toppings means the player loses the ability to place an equal number of correct toppings, as the round ends early based on the number of toppings placed overall.) The last toppings are a set of three toppings which form a contiguous squid shape. If one of these toppings is placed and another topping in the set is dragged close enough to the corresponding connection point, the second topping is automatically placed and snaps onto the connection point. One topping of this set does not match the Top Screen's cake. The ketchup is a heart over the cake. 65 points are required to pass.
*3rd level difficulty: There are six rounds of toppings to add. More toppings that are not on the Top Screen's cake are in the trays, including objects that look similar to toppings but are not food. The last toppings are a set of four toppings which form a contiguous cooked fish, with the same "snapping" rules as the 2nd level difficulty. One topping of this set does not match the Top Screen's cake. The ketchup is two sets of looping squiggles over the cake, the first staying close to the the top edge and the second staying close to the bottom edge. 70 points are required to pass.

Mission
*1st level difficulty: Few toppings to add and 60 points to pass.
*Shock the Chef: The player must achieve a passing score of at least 85 points.
*2nd level difficulty: More toppings to add, with fake toppings, and 65 points to pass.
*3rd level difficulty: Many toppings to add, with more fake toppings, and 70 points to pass.
