The Toadwood Forest is a spooky forest located in the Mushroom Kingdom. Monsters such as Koopeleons, Boo Guys, and Elasto-Piranhas reside in the forest.
The Toadwood Forest is a location in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. It is one of the first locations visited by Mario, Luigi, Baby Mario, and Baby Luigi. The forest is located between Bowser's Castle and Peach's Castle in Mushroom Kingdom. The Shroobs use the forest to harvest vim from Toads to use as fuel. Enemies such as Koopeleons, Boo Guys, and Elasto-Piranhas reside in the forest.

During the Shroob invasion, Toads are abducted and placed on the forest's trees, which drain their life force, known as vim, out of them, weakening the Toads. Those fully drained cannot be interacted with. The vim is transferred through the roots of the trees to the Vim Factory, a huge Shroob-created building built in the middle of the Toadwood Forest. Once there, the vim is altered by Swiggler with chemicals and turned into fuel for the Shroob saucers.
During the events of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, the four Mario Bros. (Mario, Luigi, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi) traveled to the Toadwood Forest of the past in their effort to locate shards of the Cobalt Star. However, instead of finding a piece of the Cobalt Star, the brothers discovered the bodies of lifeless Toads strapped to the forest's trees.

The Mario brothers and their baby counterparts travel to the Toadwood Forest of the past after the Cobalt Star shard retrieved from Baby Bowser's Castle opens a time hole to that location. As they journey through the forest, they encounter multiple Toads strapped to the trees. They eventually reach Toadiko, who reveals what happened to her, Toadbert, and Princess Peach after they traveled to the past and tells the Shroobs' plans to the Mario brothers. Before Toadiko can finish, five Shroob saucers attack and turn her into a Shroob mushroom. However, the brothers manage to evade the attacks. After burning the trees blocking the way to the Vim Factory, they take a Warp Pipe to bring them closer to the factory.
The evil extraterrestrials known as the Shroobs had genetically-engineered the trees in the forest for a particularly malicious purpose. During the Shroob invasion, Toads would be abducted and placed in these trees. The trees would then proceed to drain the vim, the Toads' life force, out of the fungus folk, slowly killing them in the process. The vim was then transferred through the roots of the trees to the Vim Factory, a huge Shroob-created building built in the middle of the Toadwood Forest. Once there, the vim would be altered with chemicals and be used as fuel for the Shroob UFOs.

In the next area, the brothers and the baby brothers activate two switches to raise the platforms in front of the factory's entrance, allowing access.
As the four Mario brothers journeyed through the forest, they encountered multiple lifeless Toad bodies strapped to the vim-sucking trees. One Toad, Toadiko, managed to gather enough strength to reveal the Shroobs' plans to the Mario brothers. Unfortunately, Toadiko was caught and turned into a purple mushroom by the Shroobs. However, the Mario brothers of past and present managed to escape the Shroobs' wrath. Eventually, the Mario brothers discovered the factory in the heart of Toadwood Forest, unlocked the front door, and proceeded into the place of darkness.

The Mario brothers also investigated the many hollow tree stumps found throughout Toadwood Forest. To enter these tree stumps, Mario and Luigi had to throw Baby Mario and Baby Luigi over their heads and into the stumps. Usually, the baby Mario brothers would find coins, mushrooms, and even badges. However, sometimes monsters would make their home in a tree stump and would engage the babies in battle when the toddlers entered their territory.
In the first area of the Toadwood Forest are tree stumps that the adult brothers can throw the baby brothers into. Inside of each stump are ? Blocks that contain coins or items, as well as a trampoline, which the baby brothers can use to leave the stump. Some stumps also contain enemies. In the area with six tall tree stumps, the adult brothers must throw the baby brothers into a shorter stump to go underground, where the baby brothers must hit six fire blocks. After each fire block is hit, a fireball shoots out of a tall stump and enters an Empty Block above ground. The adult brothers need to hit these blocks to combine the six fireballs into one large fireball at the center of the area. After hitting the block the large fireball is in, it launches and burns down a wall of trees, clearing a path to the Warp Pipe that leads to the second area.

The second area features pits filled with thorns. To cross them, the baby brothers must use a block to control the floating panel while the adult brothers are riding it. ? Blocks are found above safe ground and barrier platforms, which only appear over the largest pit. Warp Blocks are found on the other side to reunite the brothers. Two statues are in the second area, each of which requires Simultaneous Blocks to be hit by all four brothers to activate them. After activating both statues, they reveal a bridge that allows the brothers and baby brothers to enter the Vim Factory.
While the Toadwood Forest is particularly creepy, only Luigi show signs of actually being scared. Even Baby Luigi remains controlled in the scary forest, indicating that Luigi's current fears were not present when he was a baby.
