Tiki Goons are introduced in Jungle Hijinxs, a level in the Jungle area, and continue to appear commonly throughout the course of the game. Much like Kritters, Klomps and Kobbles from past Donkey Kong Country games, Tiki Goons move from side to side at a slow pace. Some of them turn around when they encounter the edge of a platform, while others continue walking ahead regardless. If the Kongs bump into one, they lose one heart from their health meter. However, Tiki Goons can be defeated with a roll, a jump, a barrel, or with Rambi. When fighting a boss (except for Tiki Tong), Tiki Goons will be spectating along with Tiki Tanks and Tiki Torches.

Tiki Goons make another appearance in Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as obstacles in DK Jungle. Their behavior from their previous appearance is displayed yet again, roaming across the road in an attempt to hinder the racers. Should a racer crash into a Tiki Goon, they spin out and lose three coins. By beating the Staff Ghost of DK Jungle in Mario Kart 8, the player unlocks a Tiki Goon stamp.
