The Floating Whirlindas are a pair of portrait ghosts in Luigi's Mansion and its remake. They were once the local waltz champions, but since they are ghosts, The Floating Whirlindas are no longer able to compete. Their name is possibly a pun on "The Flying Wallendas," a family of acrobats in real life. Their portrait number in the Gallery is 10.

The Floating Whirlindas are encountered in the Ball Room. They are the first portrait ghosts of Area Two and the fourth overall. After Luigi defeats the six Ghost Guys in the room, the Floating Whirlindas appear. Different music plays and circular parts of the floor spin while the pair waltz, occasionally moving on to a different spinning tile. After a while, The Floating Whirlindas reveal themselves and bow after their performance, making them vulnerable to being captured by the Poltergust 3000. Once Luigi has caught the pair, a chest with the key to the Storage Room appears.
The Floating Whirlindas, the Dancing Couple are two of the Portrait Ghosts who escaped imprisonment in Luigi's Mansion. The Floating Whirlindas used to be the local waltz champions, but unfortunately they aren't allowed to compete anymore because their feet can't touch the ground. The Whirlinda couple were found in the Ballroom on the first floor's east wing of the mansion. They appeared after Luigi defeats the six Shy Guys in the room, making the dancing floor spin as they waltzed. The green plumber had to face away from them and wait until the gentleman exclaimed "Ahhh!" Both would then do a dance pose, making them vulnerable. Addionally, Luigi had to stand on the spinning tiles too, or the couple won't even appear when luigi WASN'T pointing at them. After some medium tugs, Luigi earned the key to the Storage Room.

Mrs. Whirlinda wears a green patterned dress with a lighter green trim at the sleeves and at the bottom. She also wears a cream colored belt that is light green at the edges. She has yellow hair done up in a really curly style. She also has green eyes with black lashes.
Trivia
*Unlike Henry and Orville and The Clockwork Soldiers, the Whirlinda couple are both caught at once.

Mr. Whirlinda wears a fancy red long sleeved patterned jacket with a purple shirt underneath. It has purple buttons and matching colored bow-tie. He has orange-yellow hair and green eyes. They both have sky-blue skin.

*There are various portraits of a character resembling the male dancer throughout the mansion, one of which is in the Ballroom and another in the Parlor. They may have depicted the dancer from when he was alive.
