The Floating Whirlindas are a pair of portrait ghosts in Luigi's Mansion and its remake. They were once the local waltz champions, but since they are ghosts, The Floating Whirlindas are no longer able to compete. Their name is possibly a pun on "The Flying Wallendas," a family of acrobats in real life. Their portrait number in the Gallery is 10.
__NOTOC__
The Floating Whirlindas, the Dancing Couple are two of the Portrait ghosts who escaped imprisonment before the events of Luigi's Mansion. According to the Game Boy Horror, the Floating Whirlindas used to be the local waltz champions, but they are unable to compete anymore because their feet cannot touch the ground. Their portrait number in Professor E. Gadd's gallery is 10.

The Floating Whirlindas are encountered in the Ball Room. They are the first portrait ghosts of Area Two and the fourth overall. After Luigi defeats the six Ghost Guys in the room, the Floating Whirlindas appear. Different music plays and circular parts of the floor spin while the pair waltz, occasionally moving on to a different spinning tile. After a while, The Floating Whirlindas reveal themselves and bow after their performance, making them vulnerable to being captured by the Poltergust 3000. Once Luigi has caught the pair, a chest with the key to the Storage Room appears.
Luigi's Mansion
The first Portrait ghosts of Area 2, and fourth overall, the Whirlinda couple resides in the Ball Room found on the first floor's east wing of the mansion. After Luigi defeats the six Ghost Guys in the room, different music starts playing and the Whirlindas appear, making the dancing floor spin as they waltz, occasionally moving on to a different spinning tile. To make them visible, Luigi has to stand on one of the spinning tiles and face away from them. While visible, the gentleman eventually exclaims "Dance!". Both will then do a dance pose, exposing their heart and thus making them vulnerable to being vacuumed by the Poltergust 3000. Capturing the pair gives Luigi the key to the Storage Room.
