The 'Shroom:Issue XC/Pipe Plaza
The Final Notes (Paper Yoshi (talk))January 2011 feels so far away... Yet I still cherish it as much as I did at its time. For those who don't know, that's when my first 'Shroom section was officially published. I had applied for Upcoming Games at the very end of December 2010, and got the job just a few hours before 2011 started. Little did I know, though, that that would mark the start of a new era in my Mario Wiki life... Time passed as I kept writing more Upcoming Games sections, including the highly successful Special E3 coverage, as well as applying for other sections, such as Mario Calendar in August 2011. Then came March 2012. The month that effectively changed everything once more. Then-Pipe Plaza Director Marioguy1 (talk) would take on a new position in The 'Shroom, so he asked me whether I wanted to fulfill my dream of leading the Sub-Team I loved the most already. Obviously, as you can see, I took on that position then, and haven't left it... Until now, that is, but let's save that for later. In short, I kept applying for more and more sections, writing a whopping six of them at times. Started writing Random Image of the Month in June 2012, Monthly Report in October 2012 (officially), Crossword in March 2013, Ask Paper Yoshi in April 2013 and Featured Character Artwork, replacing Random Image of the Month in the revamped Palette Swap team in August 2013. I wrote some other sections a guest, including Featured and definitely two of my most favorite sections, From the Mushroom Vaults (August 2013) and Sketch Related to Mario (February 2014). But then I started running (extremely) short on time due to the conjunction of college and my internship, and thus had to resign from my beloved sections in 2014. Crossword and Featured Character Artwork were the first ones I left, in January. However, I didn't resign from another section until June, when I wrote my last Ask Paper Yoshi section, but from then on I just kept resigning from other sections. July saw me leave Mario Calendar, possibly the section I wrote the most in the paper, while I resigned from my last two sections, Monthly Report and Upcoming Games, last month. And so came the hardest one of all: leaving the Pipe Plaza Team and The 'Shroom altogether. I had originally planned to do so in August, but I decided to postpone it upon realizing September would be my thirtieth month as Pipe Plaza Director. First of all, I would like to thank everyone who supported me in my early days here. I would also like to thank the March 2012 Core Staff Members for trusting me with this position, one I dearly love. Last, but not least, I would like to thank all Pipe Plaza members I had the pleasure to work with: Marioguy1 (talk), Super Mario Bros. (talk), FunkyK38 (talk), Ralphfan (talk), RAP (talk), WigglerWhoopin'Warrior135 (talk), Yoshiwaker (talk), MrConcreteDonkey (talk), Bop1996 (talk), YoshiKong (talk), RandomYoshi (talk), Turboo (talk), Superchao (talk), Henry Tucayo Clay (talk), Driftmaster130 (talk) and my fellow Pipe Plaza Co-Director, who constantly supported and helped me, and to whom I am very thankful, Yoshi876 (talk). I loved being part of this community for so long, and, although I'm leaving now, I'm not sure you guys are exactly free from me... Lastly, I just wanted to tell you something I realized just a few days ago: I've been a 'Shroom member for forty-five issues out of ninety. I've been in the paper for half of its history, and I'm proud of that. Good luck, everyone! You guys are the best!! Thanks once again for everything, and see you around!! Section of the Month (Yoshi876 (talk))Hello folks, this is your co-director, and these are the winners of the SoTM. Paper Yoshi and FunkyK38 won last month’s with Monthly Report and Tip of the Month respectively. Well done to the both of you. Community Report (Driftmaster130 (talk))Hey folks, this is Driftmaster130, with the September edition of Community Report. School's just started back up for me and I might have to skip writing this section a few times as the year goes on, but hopefully it'll work out. No changes in policy, but the Mushroom World Encyclopedia, a collaboration with the German and Italian Mario encyclopedias, was recently founded. And, well, embarrassingly, after the long list of proposals in last month's issue, we just had this in September: (credit to YoshiKong for previously developing this coded table system)
Pathetic isn't it? Let's hope there are more TPP's that recently reached consensus:
Umm yeah, I know the last issue had a lot but September has just been...boring. Anyways, the Talk Page proposals currently in progress:
NOTE:All stats and figures included in this section were correct as of September 12th. And that's all for the September edition of Community Report! See you guys next time. Tip of the Month (FunkyK38 (talk))Remember, when filling in information about a new game, be sure to put spoiler alerts on sensitive parts, especially when said game has a story mode. Many readers are only looking for a tip to get started again, not to have their entire game spoiled because someone forgot to put a spoiler template on. |
