Opening Statement
HI, readers! I'm your respectable Co-director, Tucayo, here with this month's Opening Statement. And oh dear, it has definitely been a busy month, with the awards, the events, and some more changes we have in store for you, but not so busy news-wise. Still, let's get to the news.
- Congratulations to Cirdec on having won our Zelda Drawing Contest from last issue, and thanks to everyone who participated! This is the winning drawing.
- Special thanks to everyone who participated in the 'Shroom Awards IV; our host, presenters, voters, attendees, nominees... the ceremony wouldn't have been the same without you. We will be reviewing your suggestions as soon as possible, and we promise to leave a good groundwork for next year's awards.
- The Main Team is in serious need of writers. Please take a look at the Sign Up page to see if there are any positions you're interested in. Or, if there aren't any positions that suit your taste, you can make one of your own!
And that is all this month. Enjoy the rest of the issue, it's a good one!

Section of the Month
HI, readers! I'm your almost-out-of-adjectives Co-director, Tucayo, here with last month's Main Team Section of the Month results. After our largest voting turnout and the biggest Main Team we had had in a while, we are now back to our two-section Main Team. But both were excellent sections, so quality is definitely not something we are missing!
Debuting writer, Timmy, gave us a great article explaining the various factors that will help you knock out an opponent in Brawl; whereas Fun Stuff Director Superchao interviewed Nabber for his July article. In the end, after 22 votes, Timmy won last month's SOTM with 18 votes. Perch came in second with 4 votes.
Please remember to vote, you will once again find the polls at the end of every Main article.

The 'Shroom Spotlight
Hello all you marvelous readers! YoshiKong here with August's edition of The 'Shroom Spotlight! Now, for this month we will be taking yet another suggestion from our fine readers. Meet Yoshi876 (talk), a cool and funky MarioWiki user who loves Yoshis and 876es. He would like us to focus on a group of Yoshi's Island DS level articles which have been marked as a stub (requires a rewrite/expansion). The articles are as following:
For the most part, these articles are a solid paragraph long. But much effort could be put into expanding the info on the level layout, which is a standard of level articles. Good luck to you all, and we'll be reviewing our progress next month! If you have any questions, suggestions or feedback on 'Shroom Spotlight, be sure to post a comment here. Enjoy the rest of the issue!

Welcome again to the Fake News! I'd like to thank everyone who vote Fake News once again as the best sub-team in whichever award that covers. Pyro (talk) and Alexneushoorn (talk) were the runners-up, with 15 and 11 votes, respectively.
Sorry this is so brief, but I'm running very late because I have a problem with procrastination I've been busy recently no, wait, I was right the first time. See you around!

Pipe Plaza
Hello, everyone, and welcome to the August Issue of Pipe Plaza!! Unlike previous months, I actually have some news for you, so let's get to that now. As many of you may have noticed, the NIWA News section hasn't been featured in the paper since the April 2012 Issue, and it hasn't had a writer since last October. Thus, following a suggestion made by fellow staff member Superchao (talk), I have decided to remove NIWA News from the Pipe Plaza. That, however, doesn't mean the paper will not cover news from NIWA anymore; a special section may be written in the future for that purpose, should it prove necessary.
Section of the Month
The SotM poll from last issue got a total of 22 votes, eight more than the previous poll.
The July Section of the Month, with a whopping 15 votes (68.18% of the total) is...
...Upcoming Games, for the seventh time overall!!!
Following a tradition from the last two years, the July Issue of Upcoming Games covered all sorts of news from Nintendo's E3 conference, be it about new games or simply new details from previously announced games. This year, the Japanese company decided to hold a Nintendo Direct broadcast instead of the usual press conference, which, despite causing some controversy, allowed them to focus more on showcasing software. The second-placed sections were my Director's Notes, Featured, also written by me, and Projects Seeking Contributors, written by YoshiKong (talk), each one with 2 votes (9.09%), while YoshiKong also got third place with the single vote earned by his Community Report.
Well, I guess that's it for this month!! Now go on and read the other sections! I hope you like them!

Critic Corner
Victory, I have been so busy I only just barely managed to get this shit done on time! Why is this my life. Anyway, our long-time writer New Super Mario (talk) decided he wasn't busy enough so he's begun a new opinion piece titled Smash Time, which will focus on his thoughts on new updates and features for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. 4, so let's all give him a warm welcome even tho he's been here for a while now! Also, Cirdec (talk) was kind enough to contribute another one-time submission in the form of a Non-Marioverse Review, so big thanks to him as well!
Now, our last feedback survey revealed some people are none too happy with the low emphasis on Mario reviews in the Critic Corner, which seemed to be ignoring that I've been trying to get writers for that for a fair while now. So more than ever, if you're at all interested in writing any Mario reviews – whether as a permanent section or as a one-time submission – please contact me immediately because I'm getting desperate here. Although not desperate enough that I'll just take anything; please put some effort into your submissions, that's really all I ask. Contact me here.
July Section of the Month
Thirteen votes was all we got last month. I am severely disappointed in that, I reckoned we were fancy enough to get more attention than that, but I guess I was wrong. Fine! I'll just have to make things even more flashy to draw in readers, won't I? But the results we did have were a victory for MrConcreteDonkey (talk) for Should Have Been which covered beta elements across the entire Pokemon series, winning with a grand total of 8 votes.
I came second for Crocodile Style Reviews which reviewed Remember Me, and third place was a tie between YoshiMonsta (talk) for Entertainment Section covering a video about failed Mario game ideas, and Pyro (talk) for Hottest Reviews Around which reviewed DLC Quest.
Please vote this month, my self-esteem depends on it. You wouldn't like me when my self-esteem plummets. After all, I have a rifle. And it's not loaded with bullets. It's much worse.

Interview
Greetings, 'Shroom readers! I'm still Superchao, haven't magically transformed into a squid or something overnight. This month, I'm interviewing wiki patroller, and noted relatively-serious guy (but not in a bad way), Mario4Ever! He's been around for a couple years, and despite a little... controversy a long time ago, he seems to be generally chill with everyone. He's also the 'Shroom stats manager, which makes him my coworker nowadays I suppose. Now I should probably stop saying my little piece and let the man himself explain things.
The Interview
Superchao: Hello, Shroom readers! I'm your friendly neighborhood Interview-Man!
Superchao: And today, I'm interviewing Mario4Ever!
Mario4Ever: Hello there.
Superchao: So, how about the traditional first question. How did you find the wiki?
Mario4Ever: It was around the time Super Mario Galaxy 2 came out. Either I had just received it or was about to, and I looked for information on it. As is tradition with people who haven't been on the wiki since the beginning, I saw mistakes that needed fixing and took it upon myself to fix them. Everything just went from there.

From The Mushroom Vaults
Well, hello there! Wait, what? You thought this section was dead? NOT ANYMORE, I say!!
In a more serious note, hello, readers!! This is Paper Yoshi (talk), the Pipe Plaza Director, with the first From the Mushroom Vaults section in a long looooooooong time. Will I write it from now on? Nope. Will I present you with a special guest section full of tips for your gaming needs? Yes!
I have wanted to write something like this for quite some time, and, after many issues, I got the perfect topic to write about; considering it fits FTMV, I decided to reboot this section, even if just for this month. Anyway, I believe I have blabbed enough about this, so let's get to the section proper.
As of the time of writing this, I have been playing a certain game extensively for about a week. "What game is it?", you ask? Well, it's none other than the second Mario platformer released for the Nintendo 3DS, New Super Mario Bros. 2! As I was playing it, something bothered me at a specific moment during the game. Something every proud gamer would scoff at. Something that gets in the way of a perfect run. Something that, even while helping, punishes players all around the world. That "something" would be... the Invincibility Leaf.

Brawl Tactics
What's up, Brawlers? FunkyK38 here with BRAWL TACTICS! This month, to celebrate all the festivities going on around him, I will be re-covering everyone's favorite green guy, Luigi!
You may remember my first analysis, but here it is again: Luigi is an average weight character who is moderately fast. He has a higher jump than Mario, obviously, but it is a really nice jump. You can get some great distance on his jumps, which can help you out if you're having a tough time getting through a stage or a battle.
He has somewhat unpredictable power, however. His standard 'A' attacks can range from his relatively weak dash attack to his wicked charge attack, which is actually my favorite attack of his to use. Luigi's a strange guy who can pack a lot of launch power behind his punches, so be careful when you're around him!

Closing Statement
Sub-Director's Notes
Twentytwofiftyseven (talk)
Gabumon has been resurrected. Everyone who gave their lives to make this day possible has my unending gratitude. I might have to keep this job for a while while he gets used to being alive again, though.
Closing Statement
Welcome to the August 2013 edition of The 'Shroom! SMB here, with the closing statement.
I would sit here and talk about this past month, but we do not really have much to cover on that front. We just finished celebrating the Super Mario Wiki's anniversary, and so I feel it would be a little more fitting to talk about next month's issue that is being worked on. September 2013 will be a big commemoration to the Awards Committee, the anniversary festivities, and the people that make it happen! We have plenty of ideas that we plan to implement into the next edition, and we hope to make it a fun event that nobody will forget.
