Hey guys, GPM1000 back again with this month’s Mario Calendar, the section where I list every Mario game that has ever come out in the month of publication! This month is September, and some really cool games have come out this month in the past. I hope everyone that goes to school has had a great first few weeks back at school, but without further ado, let’s a-go!

Overall, I would consider this to be a very strong month for Mario! With North American releases for Super Mario World and Super Mario 64, two of the greatest Mario games of all time, this would already be a strong month, but it also had the original Japanese release for Super Mario Bros.! That’s an incredibly important Mario game, and we wouldn’t be here without it! Not to mention the fact that Super Mario 3D All-Stars is coming this month! I hope you all have fun with that (if you can get your hands on it). See you next month!

Welcome to the last Anniversary Announcements of this season!

Tournaments

The Awards season is as good as over, so let's see the last standings for the tournaments.

Mario Awards Killing Game 4: Despair Incorporated

After the successful defeat of Big Changes, the endgame phase commenced with the four remaining players (MrConcreteDonkey, Luigi 64DD, Superchao, and Epic Nitwit) attempting to escape, and the ghosts of the eliminated players trying to thwart them. The submission period has long ended, and we are waiting for the final results which are expected to be released soon.

Panel de Pon

The game has ended! The game was won by Super-Yoshi with a perfect win streak, followed by MST3K and Turboo both in second with two ties. Congratulations!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

After singles, doubles have also concluded! The winning team is Blue Eagle Strike Force, consisting of Turboo and Yoshiwaker, with a perfect win streak! Congratulations!

Anniversary Scavenger Mini

Statistics about the game during the ceremony are expected to be posted soon.

Committee Interviews

Welcome to Committee Interviews! In this part of Anniversary Announcements, I will do short interviews with the members of the Awards Committee, so you can get to know them a bit better!
This month the newcomers: YoshiFlutterJump (talk) and Power Flotzo (talk)!

YoshiFlutterJump

Lakituthequick This was your first year in the Awards Committee! Why did you decide to join?
YoshiFlutterJump It was for much the same reason I joined the Poll Committee a few months before. I was looking to become more involved in the community, and the AC seemed like a great way to do so.
YoshiFlutterJump I'd considered joining last year--the poll committee, too--but I was a bit worried it would take too much time commitment.
Lakituthequick Why, you more or less answered the next question I was about to ask.
YoshiFlutterJump I did?
Lakituthequick You did! I was about to ask if you considered joining before!
YoshiFlutterJump Oh, cool.
Lakituthequick You did join the Poll Committee before the Awards Committee, last year. Did it have an influence on your decision to join the AC?
YoshiFlutterJump It did. I remember I was debating with myself over whether I'd have the time to be active in the PC, but some other users assured me that I'd be fine.
YoshiFlutterJump And...I was. And being able to do that made me think "well, perhaps I could manage this AC thing." Many PC members were also former AC members, and I remember I did write a presentation last year--the biggest part of AC work, even though you don't have to be an AC member to do it.
Lakituthequick I recognise the recommendations, there is a lot of overlap and encouragement between the teams.
Lakituthequick What aspect of the Committee or the Awards do you consider to be the most fun?
YoshiFlutterJump While the presentations are a lot of work, they're also a lot of fun to write and see how people react to it. They're especially interesting because I really don't know what my story will be until my results come in--for example, my Favorite Boss Battle presentation last year was originally going to be about Mario taking on a Kirby-style Arena challenge, but since Bowser just happened to win all of the top 5, I ended up writing a more traditional Mario vs Bowser adventure.
Lakituthequick I concur, results do change presentations like that, for me as well.
Lakituthequick Did you have any goals set? Or was more community involvement it?
YoshiFlutterJump It was pretty much just community involvement, yeah. And while I wasn't able to attend as many meetings as I would have liked to, I still feel I was able to accomplish that and I'm glad I joined the AC this year.
Lakituthequick Alright, do you want to add anything else to the interview yourself? Will we see you again next year?
YoshiFlutterJump I don't think I have any more to add. As for whether I'll join next year, well...I certainly might, we'll see how things go!
Lakituthequick That's the spirit! In that case, I hope you've enjoyed this year, want to thank you for the interview, and hope to see you again next year!
YoshiFlutterJump My pleasure! Thanks for having me!

Power Flotzo

Lakituthequick 2020 was your first year in the Awards Committee. What made you decide to join?
Power Flotzo I wanted to join the Awards Committee mainly because I was good at meeting deadlines and from my experience writing polls.
Lakituthequick How did you initially get interested in the AC?
Power Flotzo I got interested when I was notified about how I was a good candidate to join because of my general interactions with the community.
Lakituthequick That's good to hear!
Lakituthequick You have been in the Poll Committee since last year and are the Vice Chairperson of it now, did the PC help in your involvement in the AC, or vice versa?
Power Flotzo Yes, I'd like to think it's gotten me more involved.
Lakituthequick In any ways in particular?
Power Flotzo It's really enabled me to get a feel for the inner working of the extended MarioWiki community in general, yes.
Lakituthequick What about the Awards Committee or the Awards in general did you enjoy the most?
Power Flotzo Two of this year's highlights would have to be the Killing Game and the Awards Ceremony itself.
Lakituthequick Are there specific parts of these that stood out to you?
Power Flotzo It was especially nice seeing all the work everyone put into their presentations to make them stand out more. Variety is always nice!
Lakituthequick Yup, the variation every year is amazing!
Lakituthequick Did you have goals for yourself with joining the AC?
Power Flotzo None really, though I wanted to be as active as I possibly could and also try to write a stellar presentation.
Power Flotzo And in a way, I did that!
Lakituthequick I'm glad you feel that way!
Lakituthequick It's almost time to wrap up, so is there anything you want to add yourself? Do you think you'll be returning next year?
Power Flotzo All I have to say is, keep watching the skies!
Lakituthequick Duly noted! With that I would like to thank you for your time, and we hope to see you around next year!
Power Flotzo Hehe, thanks!

And with that, the Awards season of 2020 is as good as complete! Thanks for sticking with me again this year, and I'll probably be back next year! Bye!

All information above was correct as of 19 September 2020.
