Template talk:Shroom-image
This should be also liked to the Image Notices
- Actually no. All 'Shroom templates get The 'Shroom Templates. Image Notices, along with all the other subcategories of Notice Templates are kept for mainspace.
Image link error[edit]
[[Media:{{PAGENAME}}]] causes the image to be linked back to the current image in the "File usage" section, like what can be seen on the File:Alex Kidd EnchantedCastle.png image. Does it need to be there? 13:33, 12 November 2017 (EST)
- Bump. 13:58, 10 August 2018 (EDT)
- This makes sure that images such as File:Shroombgpp.png which are only linked to from the CSS don't appear in lists of unused files. Lakituthequick 18:44, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
Change "unused" to "unnecessary"[edit]
The point of this template is basically to let people know that this image should not be deleted because it's used on The 'Shroom. However, saying that "it shouldn't be deleted even if it's unused" doesn't really makes sense, since according to the deletion policy, "aside from personal images, being unused in and of itself is not enough reason for an image to be deleted: the image could indeed be useful somewhere, so it is always good to check before deleting unused files. Additionally, simply saying "unused" is not a valid reason when marking images with {{delete}}". Therefore, i don't think people will mark it to deletion because they think it's unused; who might mark these images for deletion? Someone who thinks they don't serve the wiki. Therefore, i think that the word "unused" should be changed to "unnecessary" Yoshi Egg 1990 13:51, 10 August 2018 (EDT)
- Yes, simply being unused doesn't qualify an image for deletion. However, an image uploaded for The 'Shroom specifically will usually be unrelated to Mario. Additionally, there's a low chance that the image will go unused anyway, unless the 'Shroom page it's on gets deleted. (There's also the looping link issue I mentioned above that prevents the image from showing up as unused anyway.) Should an image become unused and isn't relevant to the wiki, it should be deleted because there's no longer a place for it. In other words, changing "unused" to "unnecessary" would be unnecessary. 13:58, 10 August 2018 (EDT)
