So the raw graphics for the Virtual Boy are black and white, just like the Game Boy. The infamous red is all backlight, so it corresponds to the Game Boy's own pale green-colored screen, and also means there is no "true" red palette values, only approximations. Considering our Game Boy sprites and screenshots show the raw black and white rather than the backlit green, should the Virtual Boy ones do the same for consistency? I guess there's kind of a [https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheCoconutEffect coconut effect] where it's easy to just assume that Virtual Boy sprites and screenshots "should" be red, but as far as actual internal graphics are concerned, black and white is more true to form.
