Name[edit]

So, this guy's filename is CKNP.Default_LT.bfres.lz. As established with Surfing Kinopio and Prof. Kinopio, "KNP" is an abbreviation for "Kinopio" (Toad) in the game's files. The "C" could stand for "cook" or "chef", but it's ambiguous. I looked at the text data (O4.msbt.lz), and it turns out he's also called CKNP there. There are separate entries for "CookKNP"s, the yellow Toads that assist him. What'd be the best course of action for this? Scrooge200 (talk) PMCS Mustard Cafe Sign.png 17:21, July 2, 2020 (EDT)

I'd recommend keeping the conjectural name. To me, "C. Kinopio" (or "C. Toad", whatever) is too ambiguous of a name to use effectively. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 17:26, July 2, 2020 (EDT)
Agreed, there's just too little there to work with. There's no way to tell if they intended it to mean "cook", "chef", or even something else, which means we'd be making an assumption and then passing it off as official. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The Shogakukun guide would be our last shot at getting an official name. Does anyone here own it? Scrooge200 (talk) PMCS Mustard Cafe Sign.png 16:04, July 5, 2020 (EDT)
There's a Shogakukan guide? LinkTheLefty (talk) 20:41, July 5, 2020 (EDT)
Indeed, there is! See here. Scrooge200 (talk) PMCS Mustard Cafe Sign.png 00:44, July 6, 2020 (EDT)
Ah, turns out he's given the name "The Tangerino Grill Chef" in his "A Modest Request" letter at Prisma Postal Toad. I guess we were right about that in the first place. Scrooge200 (talk) PMCS Mustard Cafe Sign.png 01:52, July 13, 2020 (EDT)
