Talk:Stage (Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door)
Triggers[edit]
How does mist trigger? Is it pure random, is it based on environment, or some other factor(s)? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:01, 9 October 2016 (EDT)
- I'm inclined to think it's totally by random once you get past a certain point in the game. Mario-HOHO! (Talk / Stalk) 18:36, 28 November 2016 (EST)
Transform into 'Stage Hazards' page[edit]
This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal. |
Transform 5-1
Mist, or rather "fog" (as it is called internally in the game's files) is one of the game's multiple stage hazards such as: bucket, ceiling beam, meteor, etc. However not only is it the only one to have a page, there is no general page for stage hazards as there is for Audience or Stylish move. The only mention of them is in the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door page's battle system section saying: "In addition to the traditional turn-based combat, the characters on-stage interact with the scenery: sometimes the background falls, damaging all characters on stage and possibly making them dizzy," which is very incomplete and arguably misleading. As such I hope to transform this page into a page about all stage hazards (as having them all be individual wouldn't make sense) as to enrich the wiki's documentation of TTYD.

I would hope to gain your approval in this change.

Support[edit]
- Paper Enthusiast (talk) Per proposal.
- Camwoodstock (talk) Per Swallow's comments--as it stands, the stage hazards, rare stage events, and even information on the stage itself are currently all clumped into the Audience page haphazardly (even though a few hazards don't have anything to do with the characters in the audience, such as the Bowser Statue event, and the audience characters are a separate mechanic from the stage itself) and get no more than text for each... Except for the fog, for some reason, which currently gets its own article. Now that it's been brought up, it does feel a little weird that there's at least 2 distinct subjects (the Audience themselves, but also the stage itself) clumped into Audience, right? We might as well expand this article and move over all the information currently clumped over to Audience over here, so we have more room to expand upon those mechanics without janking up the Audience article with a bunch of things not related to the Audience crowd itself. Maybe we could even rename the article something like "Stage (Paper Mario)?"
- MegaBowser64 (talk) Even though Mist Privilege, which renders Mist as the Supreme Stage Hazard anywhere it is found is a completely legitimate and politically correct philosophy and way of life, the current set up is completely disorganized and random. We can put Mist on a list of stage hazards, as long as it doesn't mix with the other stage hazards, as it is superior, and also that would be a messy thing to do. Per Camwoodstock, we could make a "Stage (Paper Mario)" page.
- Arend (talk) Per all.
- Waluigi Time (talk) Per all.
Oppose[edit]
- Spectrogram (talk) It's better to give it a different article instead.
Comments[edit]
I should point out the Audience page does list the different stages and their effects under the "stages" section. Nightwicked Bowser 14:59, June 1, 2023 (EDT)
Thank you for this comment Swallow, I was not aware. I find this rather surprising since these mechanics are rather distinct, and definitely still think there should be a dedicated page. Should I leave some mention regarding this on Audience's talk page too then? -Paper Enthusiast (talk) 15:20, June 1, 2023 (EDT)
- I wouldn't be opposed to splitting these effects to their own page, and since this proposal is underway I don't think it's necessary for a discussion there as well. Nightwicked Bowser 15:23, June 1, 2023 (EDT)
@Spectrogram: Could you maybe elaborate on your opposition? Wouldn't leaving this article be mean that we have to create multiple short articles for the other TTYD stage hazards, alongside a Stage Hazards article describing all of those, making the multiple short articles redundant? rend (talk) (edits) 04:44, June 4, 2023 (EDT)
It doesn't make sense that we don't actually have a page for stages in the Paper Mario series, as they're one of the fundamental elements in the games. We should probably just make a stage page and put the stage hazards there to keep things centralized - BOWSER... (talk) 12:50, June 5, 2023 (EDT)
Title[edit]
Asking since I'm not too familiar with the early Paper Mario games - is this article about something that was only in TTYD, or was it in multiple Paper Mario games? Because if it's the former, the title should be "Stage (Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door)", and if it's the latter, the title should be "Stage (Paper Mario series)". Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 13:00, June 16, 2023 (EDT)
- The Thousand-Year Door was the only game to have these stage hazards, so I've moved the page. Nightwicked Bowser 13:36, June 16, 2023 (EDT)
New Title[edit]
I think this page should be renamed to "Battle Stage" now as that's what a pre-order bonus for the remake on the My Nintendo Store in Europe refers to it as. ReeceeYT (talk) 15:28, March 19, 2024 (EDT)
- Per this proposal, the rename must wait until the game releases. Nightwicked Bowser 16:11, March 19, 2024 (EDT)
- Support renaming once the remake is released.--Cadrega86 (talk) 16:55, March 21, 2024 (EDT)
- So, is it called Battle Stage or still just Stage in the remake? PrincessPeachFan (talk) 12:47, October 21, 2024 (EDT)
