Shouldn't Potted Spiked Fun Guys be split considering they're treated as separate enemies in all regions? [[User:Niiue|Niiue]] ([[User talk:Niiue|talk]]) 23:20, 24 May 2017 (EDT)

What we have here is three separate species. The Spiked Fun Guy, who is considered to be Pokey in Japan, the Potted Spiked Fun Guy, and the "Spiked Rolling Kid." We can either split all three off, split just the Yoshi's Story one off, split just the Potted one off, split them all and merge the original with Pokey, or just leave it like it is.

::::::The English guide also has separate entries for Boo Balloon & Blue Boo and Nep-Enut & Submarine Nep-Enut, which are obvious mistakes. [[User:LinkTheLefty|LinkTheLefty]] ([[User talk:LinkTheLefty|talk]]) 22:49, 29 August 2017 (EDT)

:::::::The Japanese guide also does not distinguish between [[Cheep Cheep#Yoshi franchise|Flopsy Fish]] and [[Piscatory Pete]]. And in the examples you noted, there were no differences in practice. The different monkeys have different attacks and I think palette. {{User|Doc von Schmeltwick}} 21:49, 29 August 2017 (CT)

::::::::There are [[Media:Advance_3_Shogakukan_P21.png|separate entries]] for Flopsy Fish and Piscatory Pete. Really, the monkey is a somewhat complex enemy in the game that interacts with various objects/tools in its environment; otherwise, they'd have their own entries in ''Yoshi's Woolly World''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s Scrapbook Theatre. At any rate, isn't this proposal about Spiked Fun Guy? [[User:LinkTheLefty|LinkTheLefty]] ([[User talk:LinkTheLefty|talk]]) 22:54, 29 August 2017 (EDT)

:::::::::::To my recollection, it only hops into and out of the pot object and isn't strictly "potted" like the name would suggest. Am I incorrect? [[User:LinkTheLefty|LinkTheLefty]] ([[User talk:LinkTheLefty|talk]]) 23:12, 29 August 2017 (EDT)

All right, since the article didn't have the information I was looking for, I checked my saved game for behavior differences (it helps that a quick search shows that Potted Spiked Fun Guys appear in the same stages, namely the beginning of World 3-5). In ''Yoshi's Island'', Spiked Fun Guys just hobble back and forth along the ground, bouncing back when they hit a wall. Instead of this simple movement, Potted Spiked Fun Guys stay in their pot and constantly jump in it, slowly moving towards Yoshi with each jump and occasionally performing a higher jump. A simple lick removes the Spiked Fun Guy from its pot, but it can also be popped with an egg or a seed, leaving behind the pot. The pot can then be swallowed for an egg or left behind, in which case another Spiked Fun Guy can hop in it if it comes across it. So, yes, their pattern completely changes in the pot, so I guess it could be seen as more akin to a Beach Koopa (which also isn't differentiated in Japanese material or games like ''Super Princess Peach'', but yeah) hopping into a shell. Meanwhile, the ''Yoshi's Story'' Spiked Fun Guys walk out of holes in the background, then after a moment of standing in place on a slope, proceed to roll down it; if between two slopes, they keep rolling back and forth until vanishing. :Also, a question for the proposal: I also noticed that, while Needlenose isn't listed separately in the Shogakukan guide, [[Media:Advance_3_Shogakukan_P16.png|Enemy Egg-Plant,]] [[Media:Advance_3_Shogakukan_P22.png|''Yoshi's Island'' Pokey, Blow Hard,]] [[Media:Advance_3_Shogakukan_P23.png|and Wild Ptooie Piranha]] '''all''' refer to their "Needlenose" projectiles as "Sanbo" (Pokey/Spiked Fun Guy) -- and the [[Media:Advance_3_Shogakukan_P16.png|Spiked Fun Guy]] description directly confirms the ones that are dropped by Baron von Zeppelin balloons as another type of the same enemy. Should this information linking Spiked Fun Guy and Needlenose be addressed in the proposal, or should it be saved for later since this has enough options as it is?
