The scope of this article has little to no relation of the Super Mario franchise. The main focus is about how Memory Cards work with Nintendo consoles, except this is the Super Mario Wiki and not a Nintendo wiki. The only real relevance to Mario games this article has is showing how many blocks of space each game takes, and that's something that can be mentioned in each game's article.

EDIT FOR CLARITY: Should this proposal pass, then memory card information can also go in each console article.

Support[edit]

  1. Nightwicked Bowser (talk) Delete them all!
  2. Sparks (talk) What does this have to do with Mario?
  3. Super Mario RPG (talk) I'm currently rewriting the page to become more Super Mario-friendly, but I'm okay with this too. There's no real unique functionality between SD storage mediums and the Super Mario franchise.
  4. Camwoodstock (talk) So long as we migrate this information over, we don't mind this article getting split up, honestly. ;P
  5. MegaBowser64 (talk) I'm fine with this as long as we merge the information and not outright delete it. It does cross the line a little on being a Mario-related article.
  6. EvieMaybe (talk) as long as it gets passed over to the folks at nintendowiki, i agree
  7. TheFlameChomp (talk) Per all.

Oppose[edit]

  1. DandelionSprout (talk) I oppose on technical grounds, as this kind of content would fit better on consoles' pages, as opposed to only moving them to each and every individual game's pages. Moving it to consoles' pages would also retain the ability to directly compare a console's game's filesizes to one another, and to more easily explain the "block" filesize differences between GameCube and later consoles. The Nintendo 64 section I agree could be moved to Mario Kart 64, but the other sections should not and cannot be very widely spread across some 35 games' pages.

Comments[edit]

We'd personally prefer a merge for the respective consoles' pages than outright deleting this information, personally. Should that be added as an option? ~Camwoodstock (talk) 20:07, May 9, 2024 (EDT)

That can be done regardless of the proposal's outcome, like the game block/data size inarguably would fit on GameCube page for like GameCube games. Super Mario RPG (talk) 20:10, May 9, 2024 (EDT)
Yeah, if this proposal passes snd the article gets deleted the information can go in each console article. Don't need another option for that. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 20:29, May 9, 2024 (EDT)

If this passes, is there a chance this page can get turned into a disambiguation linking to each memory card's section on its corresponding console page? Super Mario 64 promotional artwork MegaBowser64 (talk) Artwork of Bowser in New Super Mario Bros. U 12:25, May 10, 2024 (EDT)

As I quickly noted as the vote went 4-1 almost immediately (6-1 at the time of writing), I tasked it upon myself to do a "race against the clock" to move info to most consoles' pages and to Mario Kart 64. The one move/copy still remaining is for Nintendo 3DS, but there's so many detailed deep aspects with how 3DS/2DS treat SD cards that it'll be a near-nightmare for me to prepare for.
