What states the project actually involved Mario? The description doesn't say anything and while IGN's "The History of Mario Bros" article is linked in the sidebar, the article proper doesn't mention Marionette anywhere, --Glowsquid (talk) 21:42, 19 December 2014 (EST)

Miyamoto directly mentioned Marionette in an interview with Nintendo Dream, so I don't have any doubt about its existence. Oh, thanks for that. I don't know, the only bearing connection I can see with Mario with the game's title, and I'd think it's a clever play on Mario if it's really Mario-related, since we have word plays on the puppet, Mario, and the net, according to the magazine. I agree with Glowsquid. All this rumour about it being a Mario game seems to be sourced from some silly journalist saying that the Japanese word for Marionette looks like "Mario" and "Net" (*insert facepalm smiley here*). This doesn't seem to be a Mario game at all, there is just no reliable source (only "rumours" aka people wanting it to be a Mario game too much, and thinking too much into it) that say it is a Mario game. --Hiccup (talk) 16:09, 11 March 2015 (EDT)

It mentions this being said at a roundtable, though I can't seem to find much information on this roundtable other than what appears to be a full transcript, although with different wording that implies "who knows" more than anything. Indded, it is not clear from the translation what Miyamoto was saying. I think we can agree that there is no solid evidence that it is a Mario game and at the same time there is not solid evidence that it isn't a Mario game. --Hiccup (talk) 16:25, 11 March 2015 (EDT)
