Talk:Mario's Picross
Good?[edit]
It could use more information, but then again Mario's Picross is not a very important topic in the Marioverse. At least we have a start...more can be added later. --Son of Suns 13:04, 19 July 2006 (EDT)
- I never even heard of this game until now, so hats off to you, HK-47, for creating an article about an obscure game. :) Wayoshi 13:07, 19 July 2006 (EDT)
I never played this either. I had heard about on retronintendo.com, and then saw it under wanted pages. HK
Right, see how I site my sources?SaudyTalk!
- I played this game and expanded the article. I hope it is understandable how the puzzles work, could you take a look at it? The game isn't that unimportant, since it was successful in Japan and the beginning of a whole series. --Grandy02 13:46, 3 March 2009 (EST)
I agree to you guys. (user:mia90)
Order of Time Trial puzzles[edit]
Through the use of hacking tools in an emulator, I've found a way to select which Time Trial puzzle you want to play. More importantly for the purposes of this wiki, I believe the memory addresses used also provide insight as to the proper order of the last 64 puzzles, as they appear to be arranged in the game's memory in the same manner as the first 192. If I were to create a list of these puzzles in order, would it be an appropriate thing to add to this page? -TPIRFanSteve (talk) 03:18, 29 June 2013 (EDT)
- Sure you can, as long as the puzzle order isn't confusing.
Mario-HOHO! (Talk / Stalk) 19:37, 29 June 2013 (EDT)- It can easily be laid out exactly the same way as the charts for the other three courses. -TPIRFanSteve (talk) 20:11, 29 June 2013 (EDT)
Star Course 6-G "Mud"[edit]
I think anyone who has played this game was left wondering WTF is up with "Mud", since it clearly doesn't look like mud in any way. It turns out that in the Japanese version it's called タニシ, which is the Japanese name of a family of freshwater snails called Viviparidae. Their common names include river snails, mystery snails, and mud snails. So it looks like they meant to translate it to "mud snail" and forgot the word "snail". I think there should probably be a note explaining this somewhere, since it's a localization error; not really a mistranslation, but more of a typo - in this case a missing word. I puzzled over this for more than 20 years until I finally just played the Japanese version to see what the Japanese name was. 174.117.89.25 01:05, January 13, 2022 (EST)
Series or franchise page for "Picross"?[edit]
So I recently got into the Picross series and played through both Club Nintendo Picross games (plus Pokémon Picross and Zelda Picross), they were pretty fun, and I was wondering... Shouldn't there be a Picross franchise or series page on this wiki? I mean we've got pages for Mario's Picross (plus a comic based on the game), Picross 2, Mario's Super Picross, the Picross NP series, and both Club Nintendo Picross and Picross+! And I also found out that other Picross games by Nintendo have Mario-related puzzles, for example: Picross DS (which had downloadable puzzles from all 3 Mario Picross games, plus all 8 Picross NP games), and Picross 3D: Round 2 (which has amiibo compatibility, allowing you to play puzzles based on figures you scan, including a couple Mario-related ones). Just the fact there's already 6+ Picross-related game/series articles on this wiki alone makes me think that the series (or franchise I guess) should definitively get a page on the wiki. What do you guys think? --Metalex123 (talk) 21:08, October 28, 2023 (EDT)
- I'm not in favor, because Picross isn't a Super Mario series. It's not unusual for series to have games themed after certain franchises. Since this is a Super Mario wiki, we've already got a few of the Picross games sufficiently covered. If you check NintendoWiki, you'll find a Picross series page there. - I mean, it might not be a "Mario" series or franchise, but there are a ton of Picross pages on the wiki, so I think it would make sense to have a series page on it. Obviously not all Picross games would be listed on it (I don't think "Sanrio Characters Picross" or "Kemono Friends Picross" would make sense here), so instead the page could focus on the Mario-themed ones, like the Mario's Picross trilogy of games, and other Picross entries with Mario-related themes (like the Picross NP series, or the Club Nintendo Picross duology, or Picross DS with its downloadable puzzles from the Mario's Picross trilogy and Picross NP series, etc). The page itself could just be called "Mario's Picross (series)" and mainly focus on said trilogy of games (plus the comic), but also mention the non-Mario Picross games that have had enough content to be listed on the wiki. It just felt weird that there was no actual "Picross" page on the wiki, even with that huge amount of Picross-related content on the wiki. --Metalex123 (talk) 00:18, October 29, 2023 (EDT)
- I could see a "Mario's Picross (series)" page with a section for miscellaneous instances of crossing over. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:26, October 29, 2023 (EDT)
- I agree that would make the most sense, with "Picross" being a redirect to the "Mario's Picross (series)" page, just in case people try to search for Picross alone. --Metalex123 (talk) 00:37, October 31, 2023 (EDT)
- Alright I just tried making a page for the Mario's Picross series. I was tired of the series not having a page, so yeah. I hope this is okay! --Metalex123 (talk) 23:11, January 13, 2024 (EST)
