How does this count??[edit]

Does this seriously count? Multiple of these are arrangements of the Fairy Fountain theme from Zelda, which already feels like a weird gray spot but then 2 of them are from Smash and not connected to Mario in ANY notable way, and those are the arrangements that push it to the required 8.

And yes I know the Fairy Fountain theme is an arrangement of this but it's still dumb. BiggestManMario dead in the arcade version of Donkey Kong 19:09, June 18, 2024 (EDT)

A little less than 1 week ago I found this article and was thoroughly confused on how it counts (See above), because while it TECHNICALLY appears in 8 pieces of Mario-related media all of the appearances outside of remakes of SMB3 (and the related TV show) are instead arrangements of the Fairy Fountain theme from The Legend of Zelda, which IS an arrangement of the theme the article is about, and I KINDA understand the inclusion of Donkey Konga, I don't agree but I understand it. I do however NOT UNDERSTAND why the 2 Smash Bros. arrangements are counted, as those arrangements are NOT meant to be connected to Mario (or related series) by ANYONE who listens to them in ANY context, and if those 2 are not counted it doesn't reach the necessary 8 arrangements.

If people disagree then i'm fine with it, just seeing if the public agrees.

Canceled it because I realised this page technically follows all rules and was doing nothing wrong. TECHNICALLY.

  1. Biggestman (talk) Per Map 3 Proposal (yeah that's all I could come up with)

Oppose[edit]

  1. Hewer (talk) I think this qualifies per the established rules, since "any form of a theme" counts, and Smash games are "Super Mario-related pieces of media".
  2. Pseudo (talk) Even though this is mostly known as a Zelda theme by this point, it still originates in the Mario franchise. It's definitely something of an original case but still definitely fits into the scope of this wiki (especially since its appearances in the Zelda series are only summarized here, and not discussed in-depth).
  3. Camwoodstock (talk) Per Hewer & Pseudo. Even if it only meets our guidelines "TECHNICALLY", we think we can make an exception just for the unique role it plays in both Mario games and the Zelda games. Short of actual crossover events, games called Links Awakening, or characters called "Talon", it's pretty rare for the Zelda and Mario series to crossover this blatantly--and while the leitmotif is a stretch, well, leitmotifs are also pretty dang malleable, it turns out! ;P

Comments[edit]

@Hewer While this does TECHNICALLY qualify according to the rules, it really feels like such an intensely weird case that it.... shouldn't. Yes, it is an arrangement featured in "Super Mario-related media", it's not intended to be "Super Mario-related". idk if that makes any sense but I hope it does.BiggestManMario dead in the arcade version of Donkey Kong 07:20, June 24, 2024 (EDT)
