Merge info to Super Mario 3D World and + Bowser's Fury articles, or split Super Luigi Bros. from NES Remix 2[edit]

split Super Luigi Bros. 1-5-0
The existence of this page seems to me like a strange anomaly. Unlike the other Mario Bros.-inspired minigames that were given their own page after this proposal, this is just a ROM hack of the original Mario Bros. And by "ROM hack" I mean a palette swap and a title screen swap, nowhere near the extent of something like Kaettekita Mario Bros.

I think the best comparison for this minigame would be fellow Year of Luigi tacked-on promotional game Super Luigi Bros., which has more gameplay differences than this game (the bar is low, I'm aware), and yet is still merged with NES Remix 2. We need to either split Super or get rid of this page, because consistency is always nice.

Split Super Luigi Bros. from NES Remix 2[edit]

  1. SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) Per Mario Bros. proposal. Luigi Bros. should stay, and if Super Luigi Bros. has more differences, it should be split too.
  2. Camwoodstock (talk) We feel like keeping Luigi Bros. split in the name of the previous proposal (merging all these Mario Bros. variants to disparate articles is honestly rather confusing and cumbersome) definitely tracks, and by proxy, we really ought to have split Super Luigi Bros. for similar rationale.
  3. MegaBowser64 (talk) per all.
  4. Hewer (talk) Per all.
  5. JanMisali (talk) Per all. Kinda surprised Super Luigi Bros. didn't already have a dedicated article.

Comments[edit]

@Camwoodstock I'm not sure where you got the idea I disagreed with the results of the Mario Bros. proposal; I actually agree with the rationalle of the proposal except where Luigi Bros. was concerned. Most of the variants that were split are minigames in their own right, with multiple differences besides the title screen (such as, for example, running in an entirely different engine), something that Luigi Bros. cannot say. The differences are miniscule from the original game, perhaps only rivaled by 25th Anniversary Super Mario Bros. Merging this back into Mario Bros.'s article would be a little awkward, which is why I proposed to merge it to the 3D World articles: the only games in which Luigi Bros. appeared. Ah, we should've been clearer. We didn't mean to imply anything about the original proposal, we were simply bringing it up because we figured it'd help explain our own rationale better; which, ultimately, is that we feel splitting Super Luigi Bros. off is probably more justifiable than a merge for Luigi Bros.. Both for clarity-related purposes brought up in the original proposal, but in our opinion, if the latter can be fully split off despite being basically just a texture edit that has a special name and title screen, there's no reason for Super Luigi Bros. to remain merged despite having those things as well as tangible gameplay differences. To be honest, while it's far out of the scope for this proposal, we kind of wish to split at least Speed Mario Bros. off as well for largely the same reason (minor ROM edit with a tangible gameplay difference), and even less relevant to this proposal, rework that aforementioned list of "Alternate verisons and re-releases" on the Super Mario Bros. article, because... It makes some decisions, from what we just saw. Seriously, why are the Nelsonic Game Watch game and the Game & Watch game on that list when those are entirely different games, but Special and Lost Levels aren't anywhere to be seen on that list? ...That's rhetorical, don't answer that right now. ;P ~Camwoodstock (talk) 23:14, March 22, 2024 (EDT)
