"Huh? Did I hear that right? The stone monster appeared? So, the stories were true... You'd better go and buy some items then. You know, just to be on the safe side. Yup, that'd be a smart move. And the shopkeeper will be psyched to see you, too."
Can’t you get to the Thwomp at Shhwonk Fortress, refuse to take the quiz then head back to Petalburg to see this quote?

- I tried this, but it doesn't seem to work with my version of the game. The gatekeeper's quote is still the one that begins with "Be prepared for trouble". I'm leaving the said quote for others to verify. --Dine2017 (talk) 05:06, January 25, 2024 (EST)
Split Twilight Town shopkeeper's wife into its own article[edit]

Create page for the Twilight Shop wife 5-3-0
I find it strange that the Twilight Town Shopkeeper's Wife does not have her own article, despite her (and potentially her husband's) story importance in Chapter 4. As stated on MarioWiki:Minor NPCs, "if a minor NPC can be shown to have importance to the game or story, then the character warrants a conjectural name determined by the wiki and its own article."
My main argument for her importance relates to her allowing access to the Twilight Shop's storeroom, where a Black Chest is. While it can be argued that this is a similar role to say, the gatekeepers in Petalburg and Twilight Town (unnamed NPCs you are required to talk to in order to progress), I would argue her role is more similar to that of the Excess Express engineer, who is also connected to an item (the autograph) - there is a more involved gameplay aspect to it.
There are also the interactions she has with Dupree, further adding characterization for her. While Dupree is stated to be romantically interested in other unnamed NPCs in Chapter 6 and 7, we actually see the conflict he causes on screen here. These same arguments can be made for her husband, who interacts with Dupree even more so than her, but it is not required to talk to him to progress, so there is less evidence of importance for him (though him turning into a pig is the whole reason behind the store being closed and Mario getting access to the storeroom instead...)
I'll end by pointing out that neither of the shopkeepers are on this page currently, but that's only because the Chapter 4 NPCs are yet to be added. No matter how this proposal goes, I hope it brings attention to finishing this page. I'll be happy to hear any other points regarding the importance of this couple in the comments - and other ideas for what the conjectural name should be (the wife is called a shopkeeper on many pages on this wiki, but I thought her husband was the one mostly in charge). Now that I think about it, having separate articles could also prevent confusion between these two characters often both referred to as "shopkeeper", hmm.
Overall, while I am not 100% confident on this proposal, I still want to put it out there to get this discussion of minor NPCs going - where exactly do we draw the line of "importance"?

Create page for the Twilight Shop wife[edit]
- Technetium (talk) As proposer. First choice, as the arguments could be considered flimsier for her husband.
- Sparks (talk) This character has importance in chapter 4. Per proposal.
- Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) - Per.
Also she's cute - Nintendo101 (talk) Nice idea!
- Pseudo (talk) Second choice.
Create pages for both the Twilight Shop wife and husband[edit]
- Technetium (talk) As proposer. Secondary choice.
- Pseudo (talk) Both are uniquely-designed characters with a relevant role in the game, so this makes the most sense to me.
- Blinker (talk) Per both.
Keep merged with List of unnamed NPCs[edit]
Comments[edit]
what about creating a page for the wife and husband together, instead of two pages one for each? EvieMaybe (talk) 00:02, July 29, 2024 (EDT)
- This makes sense to me. -- Pseudo (talk, contributions) 10:10, August 3, 2024 (EDT)
- I'd go and add that as an option, but it's been over six days since I started the proposal. Does adding new voting options count as rewriting a proposal? --Technetium (talk) 10:30, August 3, 2024 (EDT)
Remake Petalburg Koopa Troopa[edit]
What should we do regarding the new Koopa Troopa added to Petalburg in the remake? Because like, the Peach-obsessed Koopa from the original has essentially been split into two separate characters - one is even more obsessed with Peach to the point of no longer talking about anything else, and the other shares the Hooktail rumors he used to tell. I'm not sure whether a new section should be added to the table for the new rumor Koopa, or whether the two should share one section with a note about how they were split in the remake. It's all just very confusing to try and explain in a table. --Technetium (talk) 20:58, July 30, 2024 (EDT)
