One more difference I forgot to mention earlier is that ''Donkey Kong'''s switches are exclusively designed around the control of locks and platforms, whereas the Lever Switches of the ''Galaxy'' games are more unpredictable and have a wider range of uses (and, if I recall correctly, cannot be interacted with once activated). Additionally, the opening sentence of Lever Switch says "Lever Switches appear multiple times throughout the '''Mario franchise'''."
