I looked into the game text, and there are two pieces of dialogue that can demystify the reason of his death:
...... Boy... Are you really sure... those aren't poisonous? I heard that a long time ago, a guy ate a Poison Mushroom in the food on this train... ...But I heard he passed on with a smile on his face. I guess I understand that... |

- The first line is said by the Baby Yoshi during night two of the Excess Express' Chapter 6 journey, in response to chef Shimi saying that the mushrooms he's cooking were picked from Riverside station.
That second one is from one of the random passengers than can appear on the Excess Express post-Chapter 6. It's said by a female Toad that has a salmon coloured outfit and polka dots, whom can be found in the dining coach; near the door leading to the coach that contains the third, fourth, and fifth cabins.
Also, I'm aware that this topic is almost 9 years old; I just wanted to give additional context to anyone reading this in the future, in case someone wants to re-add a Poison Mushroom as a possible reason for Ghost T.'s death. -Gulliblepikmin 13:01, March 6, 2025 (EST)
