I was going to do this unilaterally, but much of the information on this object is already covered here. Seems like a proposal is in order.

There is a type of pipe called a Jet Pipe that is recurring and has been in the franchise since 1988. I describe it a bit in the draft I quickly whipped together. Basically, it is an underwater pipe that expels currents of water that push the player. Currently, searching Jet Pipe redirects to Warp Pipe, where it is wholly undescribed, and much of the material in this current article is describing this pipe. Why not just rename the article? Well, there are instances where currents appear independently of the Jet Pipes, namely in some of the 3D platformers, and in some of the 2D platformers where they pull the player character down into the abyss (the currents from Jet Pipes, by comparison, always push).

For abiotic objects like pipes, etc., I think we generally have done more lumping with subjects that the games themselves and their accompanying paratext recognize as distinct, than we have for living subjects like enemies or characters. I would generally like to reduce the degree to which we have done this, especially for ones that have been in the franchise for decades.

#Hewer Different subjects that could use different articles. I do think the Current page post-split should still make a note of the fact they come out of Jet Pipes, but otherwise, per proposal.

#LinkTheLefty I really could've sworn this was already an article.

#Ahemtoday Per proposal. I also agree with Hewer on this.

#Pseudo Per proposal.
#ThePowerPlayer I'm surprised this wasn't its own article already.

::I appreciate that you're willing to look into these for me, thank you. I would also be interested if "Jet Pipe" as is sees any English use prior to New Super Mario Bros. U. - Nintendo101 (talk) 21:59, October 15, 2024 (EDT)

:::Since An Aqueous Adventure's card was Japan-only, it doesn't get mentioned in the Prima guide. In New Super Mario Bros. Player's Guide, it's generally referred to as "air bubbles from the pipes" or something to that effect, and there's no specific name in the Nintendo DS Pocket Guide or New Super Mario Bros. 2s Prima guide except the "air bubbles" go by "currents" now. I also checked some manuals for references by Frog Mario or Switch Block for good measure. Still nothing. The closest mention is page 222 of the Mario Kart 8 Prima guide, detailing 3DS Piranha Plant Slide hazards:<br>Water Currents: As you descend into the underground sections of this course, the water flowing through the sewer can grant you some extra speed. It can also put you in some sticky situations because of how fast you’ll be moving. The water flows at the start of the course also take Item Boxes with them, so bear that in mind.<br>Water Jets: Near the end of the lap, you’ll be racing underwater. Jets of water turn on and off throughout this section of the course, which can put you out of position while you navigate other hazards set down by your opponents.<br>In page 70 of the Mario Kart 7 Prima guide, it seems these two had the same entry?<br>CURRENTS: These currents won’t do much harm, but the water flowing from them is another matter. Weave through the downpour to maintain your glide.<br>Maybe the Mario Kart Tour loading tip screens mention it? Mister Wu may know more about that since the more recent Mario Kart games seem to be up his alley.
