It's interesting that there's a red link to "used block", becuase there should be an article for it (the little brown block with eyes.) Brick Block Physic[edit]

Don't you find it odd that, in the Super Mario All-Stars versions of Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels when Mario/Luigi punches through a brick block, he gets pulled slightly upward, as if it isn't there? The brick block physics in this game is just bad. Torey (talk) 12:44, 21 February 2018 (EST)

Hellooooo? Torey (talk) 14:44, 21 February 2018 (EST)

Can anybody answer my question?!!! Torey (talk) 15:40, 21 February 2018 (EST)

Be patient. If someone has an answer, they will say something. There's no need to repeatedly bump your post.
I don't think I encountered these physics in the game. Mario and Luigi just bounce back down. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:43, 21 February 2018 (EST)
Really? From what I recall you actually do go slightly higher when hitting a Brick Block, as seen here.
Is there a point to this post, by the way? If it's simply an expression of opinion, it should be on the forums. Small Mario sprite from Super Mario Bros. Mario JC 18:52, 21 February 2018 (EST)
I might've been remembering a different game then :P Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:55, 22 February 2018 (EST)

Are the SML2 blocks actually Brick Blocks?[edit]

We have plopped the information about the blocks in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins on this page since they function practically the same as Brick Blocks. However, they have a different appearance (resembling Rotating Blocks with closed, happy eyes), and even named differently in Japan: ニコニコブロック (Nikoniko Burokku, Smiley Block), according to the Super Mario Land 2 section of Shogakukan's Super Mario Bros. Hyakka: Nintendo Kōshiki Guidebook from 2015. I can't really find a source if they're actually called "Brick Blocks" in English, both the game's manual and the SML2 section of the Super Game Boy Player's Guide don't specifically mention it; they do mention that Mario can break blocks with the Spin Jump, and as far as I'm aware, these "smiley blocks" are the only blocks in the game Mario can break using the Spin Jump. With the recent proposal for merging the White Block to Grab Block currently going on (and the heavy opposition it currently has), I've been wondering if we should split this block from Brick Block as well, to something like Block (Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins), or if it's even worth the hassle. We do have a separate article on the Super Mario 64 blocks, which are pretty much SM64's equivalent of the Brick Block as well, so it's not that odd of a choice.
