The tour introduced [[Mario]] and [[Donkey Kong Jr.]] in their ''[[Super Mario Kart]]'' sprite-based appearance as new drivers, the latter making his first playable appearance in the ''[[Mario Kart (series)|Mario Kart]]'' series since the aforementioned game. The limited-time event where [[event token]]s appeared began on September 13, 2020 and lasted until September 22, 2020. However, the shop did not stay available for an extended period of time so players could use their extra tokens, since the event shop opened up three days earlier than it did in previous tours. Event tokens could be earned from collecting them in courses.
