The '''''Super Mario Bros.'' 35th Anniversary''' was an event taking place from September 2020 to March 2021, celebrating 35 years since the start of the mainline [[Super Mario (series)|''Super Mario'' series]] with the release of ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'' in 1985. The celebration was originally announced on September 3, 2020, with the ''Super Mario Bros.'' 35th Anniversary Direct,<ref>Nintendo. (September 3, 2020). Since the official celebration was concluded on March 31, 2021. Fans claimed that this was the end of Mario franchise, and all the Nintendo companies, stores and merchandising closed it's operations due to the name being expired. However, Nintendo said that they continued working about the franchise nstead.
