A '''suitcase''' appears as a special storage object in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga]]'' and its [[Reissue|remake]], ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions]]''. Before [[Mario]] boards the [[Koopa Cruiser]] to visit the [[Beanbean Kingdom]], [[Toadsworth]] rides on the suitcase and gives it to him. Throughout the game, Mario and [[Luigi]] keep their acquired [[List of items|items]], [[badge]]s, and [[Clothing|clothes]] inside the suitcase, as well as their [[Beanbean Map|map]] and passports. In ''Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions'', the added story ''Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser'' is accessed via the suitcase, unlocked once the player reaches [[Beanbean Fields]] for the first time. The suitcase also appears on the title screen, displaying whichever option is hovered over. After the suitcase's introduction, the only times when it is visible onscreen are when Luigi checks if he has the [[Crabbie Grass]] from [[Guffawha Ruins]] after he is knocked out of his hypnosis in [[Little Fungitown]] and when [[Fawful]] steals the [[Beanstar]] from Luigi in [[Joke's End]]. A suitcase with [[Peach's Extra Dress]] inside can also be seen, and it is pink-colored in the original game.

[[Stuffwell]] replaces this suitcase in the sequel of ''Superstar Saga'', ''[[Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time]]''. In ''[[Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story]]'' and later ''[[Mario & Luigi (series)|Mario & Luigi]]'' games, the suitcase concept is replaced by a simple [[Star menu|menu]] from which the player can access the features of the suitcase.
