Stone Spikes are a variant of Spikes that first appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They are blue in color and have green hair (the opposite of the coloration of normal Spikes). They are usually found in mountainous regions, throwing spiked balls made out of rock directly below them.

Stone Spikes make their debut in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Like normal Spikes, they can be defeated by any form of attack (though, like their normal counterparts, they cannot be jumped on while they are holding a spiked ball over their heads). Unlike normal Spikes, however, Stone Spikes only throw their spiked balls downwards, rather than forwards or backwards, with their projectiles briefly striking solid platforms before continuing their fall. A total of 11 Stone Spikes are found in World 6-1, and another 11 are encountered in World 8-4.
