'''Stones''' are blocks exclusive to certain Story Mode levels in ''[[Super Mario Maker 2]]''. They are blocks that can be picked up and thrown, allowing [[Mario]] to defeat enemies. While being carried, they also weigh down Mario, causing his jumps to be lower than normal. In all levels that Stones appear in, at least one must be carried to the goal in order to clear the level.

If Mario is holding a stone in water, the Stone will become buoyant and float Mario to the surface. Antithetically if the player makes Mario throw the Stone into the water it will sink.
Stones can be thrown at enemies to squash and defeat them. [[Yoshi]] can use his tongue to pick up Stones and carry them in his mouth; this will slow him down.
