Shy-Guys on Stilts first appear in ''[[Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island]]'' and reappear in [[Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3|its enhanced port]]. [[Shy-Guys On Stilts|World 1-6]] is named after them and contains color variations. A Shy-Guys on Stilts walks along before changing direction upon encountering an edge or a wall. A [[Yoshi (species)|Yoshi]]'s tongue can only push the Shy-Guy on Stilts a bit further. They become regular Shy-Guys when jumped on. A Shy-Guy on Stilts can be defeated directly by throwing an [[Yoshi Egg|egg]] at it. Bumping Shy-Guys on Stilts into water causes them to sink, but if the water is shallow enough, they can slowly walk back to shore.

Stilt Guys return in ''[[Yoshi's Woolly World]]'' and [[Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World|its remake]], behaving the same as before. They are crafted out of wool strings and walk on two long, thin weaving sticks that resemble stilts, with their design being consistent with the game's aesthetics. Stilt Guys have the same shoe color as Shy Guys, unlike ''Yoshi's New Island''. The stilts serve as a shield: Yoshi can only eat a Stilt Guy from behind. Eating its stills or trying to eat the Stilt Guy from the front only pushes it away. If Yoshi throws a [[yarn ball]] at a Stilt Guy from the back, it becomes caged inside the string of the yarn, It drops its stilts and is defeated in short order in the same way normal Shy Guys are. A Stilt Guy can be temporarily immobilized by a throwing a yarn ball at their stilts or at the Stilt Guy from the front which makes the yarn wraps around its stilts. Further yarn balls reset the duration, whereas this does not happen for every other enemy and obstacle that can be tied up. Yoshi can lick away the yarn around the stilts to free the Stilt Guy early, but this does not re-create the yarn ball.
