Their main attack involves them sending circular lasers in the area around them, but their heads can be jumped on and used as a spring, allowing Mario or Luigi to reach areas he otherwise would not be able to reach, similar to the Sentry Garage and Spring Topmen.
Jump Beamers are purple, spring-like robots that appear in Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2. They act as both enemies and helpful obstacles, attacking by sending out a circular laser in the area around them, but can be jumped on and used as a spring, allowing Mario to reach areas he otherwise would not be able to.

Spring Vaults are enemies in Super Mario Galaxy. They are stationary and fire lasers in a circular shockwave formation, damaging Mario or Luigi on contact. Spring Vaults are indestructible, but they can be stunned by either being jumped on or from being hit by a Star Bit. If Mario or Luigi jumps on top of a Spring Vault twice, the spring beneath its head becomes exposed and it can be used as a springboard. Spring Vaults have a counterpart with spikes and a golden frame that cannot be jumped on but otherwise has their general behavior patterns. Spring Vaults are first encountered in Flipswitch Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, where one guards the Power Star, deactivating and acting as a spring once Mario activates all 18 Flipswitch Panels. They also appear in the Battlerock Galaxy and the Dreadnought Galaxy.
Jump Beamers first appear in Super Mario Galaxy, making their debut in the Flipswitch Galaxy, where one guards the Power Star. They also appear in the Battlerock Galaxy and the Dreadnought Galaxy. Jump Beamers are stationary enemies fire lasers in a circular shockwave formation which will damage Mario if he makes contact with them. They cannot be destroyed by any means, but are able to be stunned by either jumping on top of them, or firing a Star Bit at them. If Mario jumps on top of a Jump Beamer twice, the spring beneath its head becomes exposed and it can be used like a Springboard.
