They are less common than Spuds, Fuzzes and Squeaks. Unlike other enemies in the game, they have very limited color variation in the Family Computer version, only appearing in red and blue variants. However, they have slightly more variety in the SNES version. They take two bombs to defeat, and Toad must act quickly to throw the double bombs at them, as they only stay vulnerable after the first bomb for a limited time.

Spooks are jar-like mushrooms in Wario's Woods. They are less common than Spuds, Fuzzes and Squeaks. The most common color for them is dark blue with pink stripes, and they are very challenging to defeat as they take not one but two bombs, and Toad must act quickly to throw the double bombs at them (for they only stay vulernable after the first bomb for a limited time).

Trivia
*They resemble the Mushroom Blocks from Super Mario Bros. 2.
*The word "spook", when used as a noun, means "ghost", and, as a verb, means "to scare". While it is certain that this word gave Spook his name, it is uncertain exactly why; it is possible that he was given a poltergeist-related name because he, like a ghost, can survive being blown up (but only once).
*Peculiarly, Spooks are depicted as having purple dots on their foreheads in official artwork. While it is uncertain what this quirky feature was based on, it may be a reference to the bindi, a forehead-spangling red dot predominantly worn by Hindu women.
