Spewart is first encountered in the [[Wooded Kingdom]], where he tells [[Mario]] that he and the other Broodals already took the [[Soirée Bouquet]]. He attacks by spewing poison around himself, before going after Mario. Sometimes, he spits out a few drops of poison and chokes on it. Mario can clear away the poison using [[Cappy]]. Spewart's hat must be knocked off so that he can be stomped on. Spewart is first encountered in the [[Wooded Kingdom]], during the "[[Flower Thieves of Sky Garden]]" [[mission|objective]], where he tells [[Mario]] that he and the other Broodals already took the [[Soirée Bouquet]]. He starts in the center of the arena, and spews [[Poison (obstacle)|poison]] in a large circle around himself. He stays in place, but rotates slowly to try to face Mario. Occasionally, he spits more posion that lands in a small arc. These attacks have a smaller radius than the initial spread. Sometimes, he tries to spit but chokes on the poison instead, so he spends time coughing instead of attacking. Spewart's hat must be knocked off so that he can be [[stomp]]ed on, either by using a [[Cap Throw]] or with an initial [[jump]]. Using a stomp for the hat clears a small ring of poison from the surrounding area, while stomping Spewart clears out all the poison in the arena. The Cap Throw that removes Spewart's hat pushes him backward, but additional throws have no further effect on him.


After being hit, Spewart retreats into his hat and starts spinning. Then he charges around the arena, leaving a trail of poison behind him. He bounces off walls and off of Cappy, but not necessarily in the expected angle.
