In reality, they're the same theme, just different variations. Also replaced the word "remixed" with "rearranged," as they're not the same thing. A "remix" takes the original project file of music and adds layers to it. When something is redone from the ground up, not using any aspects of the original, it is not considered a "remix." It's a full on remake, or new arrangement.

What SHOULD be specified are the opening notes, which become increasingly pronounced when you strike an enemy first. These opening notes were not present in the original.

At the very least, if you're only going to include the first half of this quote, adding an ellipses before the close quotations would be helpful… because people keep using this incomplete quote as "evidence" that Nintendo forced him out and that this was all some grand conspiracy behind the scenes.

- 15:4115:41, April 26, 2024 diff hist −63 Charles Martinet Charles's voice probably WAS used in the beta version of the game at some point… as a placeholder. Nintendo have all sorts of archived clips of his voice, meaning Charles really only went into the recording studio once every few years to record new lines. Beta versions of Super Mario Galaxy from E3 2006 also contained archived clips from Super Mario Sunshine, as Charles hadn't recorded his Galaxy-specific lines yet. Including a beta version of a game is silly… as these were likely placeholders. Tag: Manual revert

He said he WANTS to voices forever, but is also acknowledging that there may come a day where won't be able to anymore. These out of context Charles quotes only serve to paint a narrative that he was "fired." He wasn't. There is absolutely no evidence for that. This does not need to be here.

All it's really doing is using a similar technique composition-wise to create a certain atmosphere. One can make the case that the New Super Mario Bros. theme was loosely inspired by the Super Mario World theme, but to say it's an "arrangement" of some kind is just flat out incorrect.

It's likely that the same composer (Kenta Nagata) who worked on both compositions, hence the musical similarities. Sometimes composers accidentally imitate themselves without realizing it, it happens to Koji Kondo all the time. That doesn't mean they're "sneaking in references." Since there's no official confirmation that this is a reference, I'm removing it.

The notes would be: G#, A#, B#, C#, D#, E#, Fx, and G#. It would be a nightmare to read such a key signature, hence it is never used. Instead the key is only referred to as A♭ Major, because it is objectively easier and more practical to read and use, only requiring four flats. These notes are A♭, B♭, C, D♭, E♭, F, G, and then A♭.

- 21:1121:11, April 25, 2023 diff hist −243 The Super Mario Bros. Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) →Track listing: The only vague similarity to Riverside Park is the bassline, but this is not Riverside Park. This is the bassline to David Wise's Donkey Kong Country title theme arrangement of the original DK arcade theme (which was again reused in Returns, as listed here). They have similar basslines, but they're not the same. I get that Riverside Park is jungle-themed, but aside from the bassline (which is clearly meant to reference DK, not Mario Kart), nothing else resembles it.
- 20:4920:49, April 25, 2023 diff hist −307 The Super Mario Bros. Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) →Track listing: The "Dog Eat Plumber World" theme only bears vague similarities to the Paper Mario one. If anything, the movie theme just sounds like a generic Jaws parody, and the big hits don't even match. The likelihood that this is an intentional reference is extremely low, because no other Paper Mario (or Mario RPG) tune is referenced at all in this soundtrack. Given that, if they were to pick one of the themes from the RPG outings, why would they go with a random Buzzy Beetle theme?

- 20:4320:43, February 3, 2023 diff hist +2 m Piranha Plant Cove →Trivia: This is a small thing, but in music, "structure" usually refers to the form of a piece (i.e. AABB, ABA, ABACA, etc.), when in fact, what's being discussed here is the time signature. (Also, just an aside, an earlier edit described this as being in 6/4, and that's totally possible given that each of the six beats are far more pronounced. A typical 6/8 is usually quite a bit faster and tends to feel like it has "two beats," with beats 1 and 4 being the emphasized pulses.)

- 19:4219:42, October 9, 2022 diff hist −6 m GCN Baby Park →Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: G# Major and A# Major do not exist as key signatures! "A# Major" would require the use of four sharps three double-sharps ("ten sharps") and is thus completely impractical to use. B♭ Major only requires two flats. A♭ Major is preferable because it requires only four flats, not six sharps with one double-sharp (eight sharps).
- 19:3819:38, October 9, 2022 diff hist −3 m GCN Baby Park →Mario Kart Tour: Unlike F# and G♭, G# and A♭ are not enharmonic keys (keys that have multiple names). In Major, there is only A♭ Major, and in minor, G# minor is generally preferred. A♭ minor *has* been used every now and then, but it is not common. G# Major practically does not exist. It "exists" the same way that B♭♭ Major and F♭ Major "exist."

The whole tidbit about the 3/4 time signature itself being "mostly associated with a waltz" is irrelevant to this music. Furthermore, it's not entirely accurate.

The first one I changed said something about the SMB1 Ground theme being "sampled" in the title screen music. Not the slightest trace of that theme exists in the title screen music of SMB2, it was the Underwater theme. The second bullet point about the shorter music in DDP is also completely wrong. There were no "extended rhythms" in SMB2, that makes no sense. Rather, entire sections of music simply did not exist in DDP and were then added to SMB2.
