'''Spanias''' are a species of [[Spinia]]s that are found in ''[[Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door]]'' and ''[[Super Paper Mario]]''. Unlike most groups of related species, Spanias are not stronger or weaker than the main species; instead, the only differences between them and Spinias are their brown colouration and the spikes on their head. Their name may be a pun on "Spaniard", since their appearance slightly resembles a bull; "Spania" is also the Nowergian and Romanian name for the country of Spain.

Since they have spikes, Spanias cannot be jumped on. They attack by dashing and spinning in order to ram [[Mario]] and co. Although they are rather weak, they move very fast, and their charges can be tricky to [[Guard|block]] or dodge. Two Spanias also appear in Chapter 3 of ''Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door'', as a member of the [[Glitz Pit]] team the [[Destructors]] who serve as a brief replacement for [[Bandy Andy]] and the [[Hand-It-Overs]], who "retired".
 
Spanias mostly live in underground places such as [[Rogueport Sewers]], the [[Pit of 100 Trials (Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door)|Pit of 100 Trials]] in [[Rogueport]], the [[Floro Caverns]], [[Castle Bleck]] and the [[Flipside Pit of 100 Trials]]. They are the only kind of Spinia that appear in ''Super Paper Mario'', along with a new species called a [[Dark Spania]], which is a stronger, pitch black version of Spanias that is only found in the [[Flopside Pit of 100 Trials]].
